Also BS South and Southwest ExtraNice…A Friday afternoon game at Wrigley Field is almost as good as a Saturday afternoon game at Wrigley Field!
On a good note……
The Cubs fall at Tampa Bay tonight by the score of 3-2. The Cubs led 2-0 heading to the last of the 7th but the Rays plated three runs to take the lead. Their bullpen held on, including a great play by their SS to start a DP that ended the game.
We just need to avoid a sweep in this series.

Wrigley and day games. We will have 4 day games in a row. I dont mind the weekend ones, but I’m not a fan of weekday ones. 1TD has to ride solo in the game day thread. I can sometimes put the game on in the background while I work, but even then it is mostly just looking up every now and again to see the score.
I’m off today. My attitude is good right now, so hopefully it stays that way. We really need our innings eaters to over eat. Wrigley is always an adventure.

I’ll miss most of this game. Meeting a buddy out at the Amish restaurant north of town on the lake. I’ll probably have four fiddlers today. Along with some mashed potatoes/gravy, noodles, dressing, sweet iced tea, and a piece of Red Velvet cake with some soft serve vanilla ice cream. Then have a cigar out on one of the little patio buildings by the lake.
I am going to call this one 7-3 Redbirds with Arenado getting off the schneid with a big dong to LF today.

At least this won’t be one of those Friday afternoon games at Wrigley where Kyle Hendricks tosses a shutout in 1 hour 45 minutes on 80 pitches. It is my understanding that Hendricks has now been relegated to the Cub bullpen.
Just got back from paddle boarding for the third day in a row. This retirement life is nice – might need to make it permanent. The last five years I have worked off and on, but told my recruiters to not bring any gigs to me until the Fall at the earliest.
Will keep tabs on the game. I might get out on the bike later, but will have the KMOX broadcast on piped to the ear buds if I do.
No idea what we are having for din-din so can’t comment on that. Lunch is a salami sandwich loaded with tomato slices and fresh spinich, and some chips.
That’s close to what I’m having for lunch, Bikemike, although they get fancy with the name and call this stuff”summer sausage”…I’m having it with some smoked gouda and a half dozen small slices of French bread with some sliced tomatoes and olives on the side. Easy and pretty good.
Leave it to the Cubbies to put a damper on the afternoon festivities by wearing a uni with the name of the venue on the front of the jersey…”Wrigleyville?” Sounds silly to me.
So we now have a Jordan Hicks, and a Jordan “Wicks”. That will be fun when those two guys square off.
Lots of guys named “Jordan” these days. Never had a kid named Jordan in school when I grew up. Nor Connor, nor Chase not any names like that. It was all Steve, Bill, Bob, John, etc. 🙂
Not sure what to think about those “Wrigleyville” uni’s. I guess that is the Cubs version of the city uniforms teams are creating.
This Wicks guy looks kind of goofy with that uniform, the glasses and the hat on crooked. We should be able to knock this character out of the box. But historically, lefties we have never faced tend to shut us down, at least it seems that way.
Looks like Wicks knocked himself out. But now all we have to do is beat the Cardinal killer, Kyle “Purple Haze” Hendricks. Spelled different, but close enough.

BDW might see those Wrigleyville unis and think, if they can advertise the neighborhood, so can I. Next year look for the Ballpark Village unis.
We need the Rats to beat the Rocks and Cards beat the Chubbies. Than that Cubs flag resumes it’s rightful place on the bottom.

Yep, a Friday afternoon at Wrigley against Hendricks is bad news. He will probably lower his ERA by 3 full points today.
