June StL lineup (10 games)
12 HR’s. Gorman has 5 and Burley 4. Three guys have 1.
Zero triples.
14 doubles. Ivan’s 4 leading June. Carlson and Goldy both have 2.
We’re slugging .382 and the total bases (131), is being carried by Gorman and Burly who have 25 each. Three players have a slg% over .400; Gorman .658, Burly .595 and Winn at .405
Our ops is .669 (June) and four batters have an ops over .700; Gorman .991, Burly .913, Winn .747 and Carlson .702. Herrera and Arenado are in the .690’s and it’s ugly after that.

Yes he can. If he would ever give up the fantasy of being a switch hitter and just hit RH he might make some progress. Supposedly he has been doing that in BP but not in games.

Mozeliak says Edman will possibly returning this month (translation: late July/early August). His return will automatically makes the team better. When Contreras returns… better yet and Nootbaar back even better yet. The negative side is the rotation will likely be worse. Matz isn’t going to make it better at all and shouldn’t be counted to do so.
Winn is the only player exceeding expectations (maybe Burleson) but in general what’s going on now is enough to make a grown man cry.

Does Burleson remain in the regular lineup when Contreras, Nootbaar, Edman and Walker return? Burly, Donovan and Nootbaar seem pretty even, right now, overall. Walker is a wild card for the near future.

I think Burly is having a fine year and might have a shot at being the Cardinals starting 1B next year, but like some of the other posters, I think it would be nice to talk about someone else on occassion. The obsession over him seems a bit much.
For example, the posters in the MLB Draft thread are probably tired of me talking about Hagen Smith…lol

Mr Shade, I can’t think of a worse comp than Votto. In 608 PA’s your man has walked 37 times. Votto led the league 5 times in walks and has nearly 1,400 for his career.

Shady-Here is Burlesons absolute ceiling. And Burly will never have his obp. But he’s fat and could hit. So I looked his #’s up.
gscottar, I’m just really thrilled the Cardinals have a youngster that has come up through there system that puts the ball in play so frequently. Often at very hard velocity. I’ve grown weary of so many recent Cardinals hitters that strikeout so much.
Shady you’ve got to get in touch with today’s game. Striking out isn’t bad and good average doesn’t mean anything.
