I didn’t realize Prieto had fallen off, somewhat. “At least Saggese is hot right now, so if anyone gets added to the 40-man and called up, which I do not anticipate, it would be Saggese”. That might be practical, considering how Arenado and Gorman have performed this season, overall. Next season, depending on what they want to do with Goldy, Arenado, and Gorman. An infield of Burleson, Donovan, Winn and Saggese might not be too bad. Especially, if in a rebuild mode.
Sorry to offend. IMO, baseball message boards sometime seem more complicated than necessary. It seems really easy for regular posters to just ignore what’s not appealing to them. As the monitor, that’s quite different.
gscottar, This is just an innocent baseball message board that should be just for fun. Try not to over-analyze the personal aspect and/or over-react.
Brian, good point. However, I feel the admiration these types have expressed for Burleson’s hitting ability seems genuine. Like with me, I feel they are thrilled to have a hitting talent that can help the Cardinals win.

RBK, that’s ridiculous, I’m an amateur poster here like all likely are. We share opinions. But, how can Average Joe posters here, pompously, feel they are more accomplished than professional baseball commentators? That’s what I’m getting at.
RBK, it humors me. All of us amateur posters can post our thoughts. We are fans on an innocent MB. As long as there are no personal attacks. I don’t like that at all. Though I sometimes react after being attacked. I’m trying to be more resiliant.
So, from all the brilliant data, please lay it out. Who should be batting 3, 4, and 5 for the Cardinals now? It looks to me, those with the better stats haven’t been too effective, lately.
KCB, So if not Goldschmidt, Arenado and Burleson. Who do you suggest as viable MOBs, right now? Brian, please chime in. Who do you feel should be hitting 3 thru 5 for the Cardinals, right now? No insults intended, just a very timely question with the way the offense is struggling.
AdM, feels, “Commentators are paid to pimp the Cards”. Frankly, I haven’t heard notable professional Cardinals’ baseball commentators “pimp”, as you post, Gorman, Walker and even, Contreras, recently, like they have Burleson. Wonder why that is.
AdM, so I should place more credibility in what you post than what Joe Buck, Jim Edmonds, Mark Sweeney, Al Hrabosky, Chip Caray, etc. say regarding what they see in Burleson. It ain’t gonna happen. The difference is. You see numbers, they see raw hitting ability.
RBK, yet, recently, some notable professional baseball commentators. Not internet Cardinals MB posters that I know of. Have claimed Burleson is the best hitter on the team and the most dangerous hitter on the team. They must not pay the attention to stats that some internet posters dwell on. Isn’t it kind of odd that some notable professional analysts think more highly of Burleson than many Average Joe MB posters do?
Contreras hasn’t been the productive bat needed at 3, lately. Especially, vs LHP. Too many Ks, lately for a #2 or #3 hitter. Put him at 5 to relieve some pressure.
Go with this set lineup for a while vs RHP and LHP. It may be the Cardinals best chance of generating more offense.

2) Donovan LF
3) Burleson DH
4) Arenado 3B
5) Contreras C
6) Pham RF
7) Goldschmidt 1B
8) Gorman 2B
9) Nootbaar CFRight now, Pham’s cost for next season will financially make much more sense than Goldschmidt and Arenado. The key is whether Burleson can cut it at 1B and one of the many internal options can at 3B. Hopefully, it’s Gorman. Both Burleson’s and Gorman’s compensation, next season, compared to Goldy’s and Arenado’s should help accommodate Pham’s salary and some more needed starting pitching help. Maybe even another outside outfield bat if Walker’s not ready.
AdM asks, “why aren’t they sitting vs lefties”? Because there’s not consistent, high level production from the high-priced RHBs against LHP. Because of that, team’s are trying to minimize Burleson, Donovan and Gorman by pitching a lot of LH starters.
Maybe it’s time to try to establish a top of the order nucleus for the future with some talented, young hitters. Go Winn, Donovan, Burleson 123 against RHP and LHP. For now, fill in the blanks with the rest of the lineup.
When millions and millions are spent on underachieving players. Things usually doesn’t turn out too good. This is the bottom line issue with this team.
With the Cardinals, is it lack of talent or more of lack of production? There’s a lot of just average production going on. Especially, considering some salaries. The Cardinals need more “bang for their buck” out of some.
