How did this post qualify as a contribution to Cardinals baseball talk? Discuss the topic, not other posters. Such as, were you encouraged by Rom’s last pitching performance and whomever did an excellent job calling his pitches?
An impressive outing by Thompson today. Cards have some intriguing young lefties in Thompson, Liberatore and Rom.
Personally, I like a forum like this. Brian just wants Cardinals baseball talk. Not a bunch of hateful rhetoric and harassment.
I agree, there’s a big difference between occasionally pitching like Tudor and the way Tudor consistently pitched for the Cardinals. We can only hope that Rom is “the real deal”.
Another look at some very talented young players in today’s lineup. The future seems bright if some of the young pitchers develop into productive MLB pitchers.
He has looked good in a “meaningful” game. He pitched a gem against his former organization in an MLB regular season game last season. Wish he’d had more performances like that. He’s still fairly young.
Was Herrera catching Rom in his recent outstanding pitching performance? Whomever the catcher was, he did a crafty job setting up hitters.
Brian, I really appreciate those boundaries. I really do. Point taken. Just curious, have there never been any Burleson bashers here? What were your thoughts on Burleson’s potential last season compared to now?
I hope you are correct. And it’s quite refreshing. But why not just “gut” opinions, sometime? Just for discussion. For instance, some had opinions of Burleson’s potential that weren’t necessarily supported by actual facts. Others had facts that discredited him. So who’s looking more accurate now?
It’s kind of funny seeing some of the Burleson bashers doing the “bob and weave” now. Some, who were extremely demeaning towards him. Some still can’t quite let it go. Keep mashing the ball, Burly. Like wally and I forecasted a long time ago. With the help of a professional baseball scout.
Anybody that wasn’t impressed with Rom’s last performance is either in denial or simply “out to lunch”. I don’t know if he can continue to pitch like that. But give the guy his due for that last showing. And yes, he did pitch like Tudor in that game. He wasn’t overpowering, but he had fabulous command and seemed to have hitters confused.
Wrong again, Rom faced some fine MLB hitters in that masterful outing. Like it or not, it’s simply hard to deny how good he was in his last appearance. Will he continue like this? I doubt it, but it was a lot better than some of the other more highly touted pitchers have performed.
Did you happen to see Rom’s last performance? He was simply brilliant. Hopefully, an indication of really good things to come. The Cards could use a surprise out of all their young starting pitching. Also, I believe you use to bash Burleson quite a bit. Any changes in your thinking on him from what he’s done so far in spring training. If I have the wrong poster in mind, please comment on Burleson’s spring training just the same.
I haven’t paid close attention to the pitching in spring training. But from what I did see, Rom’s recent performance was outstanding. Tudor-like. Anxious to see if he can build on it.
Again, ease off the personal insinuations. Hopefully, the moderators here will catch on to your incessant, obsessive attempts to harass.
Burly will get a lot of singles and a fair amount of doubles. I really feel he needs to figure out a way to hit more HRs. He needs to “cut it loose” more when the count is in his favor.
I really like the suggestion of Burleson getting a 6 weeks audition at DH. Especially, vs RHP. By the way, in looking ahead to Saggese, will he hit for enough power to be a 3 to 6 type hitter in the lineup? Actually, Scott leading off and Saggese batting #2 might be a very productive combo, eventually. Saggese would get a bunch of fastballs batting right behind Scott.
