It was impossible not to observe the celebration in right field due to the fact that’s all they showed between pitches. But this group was fully engaged in the game. Tapping their heads to question calls and cheering at the appropriate times. Mix in too much alcohol and it’s just another Wrigley field drunk fest.
I can’t remember a turnaround by a young player quite like this

ATM-Just for the record-I would have left him in. But it was Oli’s decision and Stanek JoJo and O ‘Brien were lined up for 7 8 and 9. All have been pitching well except OBriens hiccup in SD. Manager is a tough position.
I will play devils advocate. If Oli left him in and he got torched, pretty sure there would have been an uprising because he was left in too long. Need a thick skin to play the manager position.

I think they’re somewhere in between how bad most predicted they would be and how good they’ve been. The baseball Gods rarely get cheated, and that run differential is real. I was disappointed in Libby last night. I thought that 5th inning showed a lack of something besides the physical ability to make a good pitch. But you still need to score 5 runs to win most nights, 2 doesn’t cut it. Our black ⚫️ hole at the end of the lineup cost us at least 2 runs in the first 5 innings. Maybe Knoot will show up with his hair on fire. That would help.

You are right Willie, different stats have more importance to some fans than they do others. I like war because it can be applied to players in a different era and you can see how great they really were.
Either way, stats have been a central part of baseball Fandom since the inception of the game. I like looking at stats and reading discussions about them better than I like watching TV. I wish I got to more games. I used to go to 1 game of every home series during the season.I think i mentioned I’m an older fan. But my memory is good enough to remember when ba was king. But it just isn’t that way anymore. The guy who’s led the league in ba overall for the last 5 years has been shuffled to 4 different teams. Last year his ba was .303. He had a 1.3 war. Victor Scott 1.7. Pages 1.6. There’s just a lot of stuff besides ba that contributes to a players worth. And at the end of the day, war is $.

Jordan Walker and JJ Wetherholt happened. In between are 2 guys we already knew could hit. Consistent run producing top of the order night after night.
Everyone agrees Jj is an elite defensive player. Statistics agree he is an elite defensive player. I’m an older fan. So you can stick to our father’s and grand fathers statistics or you can learn how to use Google and find out what all the newer metrics mean and how they’re calculated. Baseball still uses all the traditional stats. We’ve just found their importance has been recalibrated. Many Baseball statistician now consider wrc+ as being the best statistics to value a players overall contribution to his team scoring runs. Anyway, here’s a list of the leaders. JJ is good.

My dad used to take me to A’s games in KC before they left. That’s how I became a Cardinal fan. They broadcast Cardinals games every night on the radio. I latched on and never was a Royals fan. Went to a party and Cardinals game in StLouis after college at mizzou in 1980. I’m still here.
Gorman is world’s better at the hot corner. He was almost unplayable there and at the dish most of 2025.
It was an awful thing to watch. But his defense has improved to a level that if he can just show some incremental improvement in his ops he can hold his place there.
