Soriano gets the GIDP to end it for the W and lift the Cardinals to their high water mark of the season at 9 games above sea level. Keep ’em comin’…
May 16, 2026 at 4:13 pm #307620Long way to go, but if the regular season ended today, the odds on favorite for Manager of The Year honors would have to be our very own Oli.

That would make several thousand of our fan base very unhappy. Handful on here as well.
May 16, 2026 at 4:20 pm #307622Hey and Tommy boy had a hit and a good slide home for a run today.
May 16, 2026 at 4:25 pm #307623Nice crowd today, 32k.
May 16, 2026 at 4:34 pm #307624Huge for Leahy to go 6. Amazingly clean inning for Bruihl. Great to see Graceffo have two big outings in a row.
Geez, Leahy is on a pace for 18 wins, and this is his first time through 6!
Pugs–I don’t think Wetherholt has had a day off so far this season. ESPN shows him at 44 games, and this was the 45th. I looked at his game log and he’s had multiple plate appearances each game. I’ve wondered when they would finally give him some time. This is a big uptick in games compared to last year. I’d guess it’ll be easier to rest him when Noot is back and can serve as leadoff now and then.
May 16, 2026 at 4:34 pm #307625Fun baseball had by all today.
May 16, 2026 at 4:36 pm #307626The Doyers even gave Ohtani a day off the other night.
And it was a home game as well.

ParticipantDidnt get to watch, had our ballgames today but a nice series clinching win even if i think the royals really suck. I wouldnt mind a couple of their player though the rest would be gone if i owned the team.

It’s getting better. However some will point out if it wasn’t for Oli they’d have less. Lol
May 16, 2026 at 7:38 pm #307634Nice win! Was scoreboard watching and figured Leahy had another strong outing. The Rox won their game over Arizona by that same 4-2 score.
And as of this writing, Chicago is losing their game to Chicago 5-0! Hopefully that Chicago club, the American Leaguers, can bring that one home.
May 16, 2026 at 8:07 pm #307637Taking a gander at the late Saturday out-of-town scoreboard:
As BikeMike alluded to, the Cubs are behind 8-1 to the WhiteSox at Comiskey Park.
The Reds lost at Cleveland. 7-4 Indians your final at Municipal Stadium.
The Pirates lost to Philadelphia. 6-0 the final score at Three Rivers Stadium.
And the Brewers lead the Twins in the last of the 7th at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. 2-1 Brewers is your current score but the Twins have a runner at 3rd and one out.
May 16, 2026 at 8:51 pm #307642some of my fondest memories of WS games were of those played during the day.
A fond memory I’d like to take all the way to my grave is racing off the school bus to hopefully find the Cards winning Game 1 of the 68 series. I got to see Gibby get the last couple of his 17 Ks that day.
May 16, 2026 at 9:00 pm #307643The whiz-kid is finally living up to his nickname…The little field general is without question the NL MOY at this juncture of the ’26 season and my best guess is that they’ll be referencing him as the “Little Perfessor” before he’s all done…
May 16, 2026 at 9:08 pm #307644We had a Zenith B&W set in those days. Every time I walked into the ballpark I hesitated and took in the view of the field in color. To 10 year old me it was a wonder to behold.
May 16, 2026 at 9:27 pm #307645Yeah, it really was something else to take in that vast and gorgeous green field of play with the immaculate white lines laid out in what looked like pefect symmetry. And to a young boy those players looked like mythical titans all dressed out in those stunning Big League uniforms. And the best part was that every one those guys could really play the game of baseball. I recall watching and thinking to myself, “How can they possibly be so unbelievably good?”
May 17, 2026 at 10:50 am #307665I was 10 years old when I saw my first live big league game. Growing up in Wyoming with really no one in our area having color TV at the time, seeing a big league park in person was incredible.
And watching those guys was amazing. I have this picture in my mind of Dick Groat fielding a grounder and throwing out a runner, and my dad saying, “They really make it look easy, don’t they.”
