I hope deGROM doesn’t put Walker back in a hitting funk.
June 1, 2026 at 7:39 pm #308777These pitchers with any control are absolutely living on the outside of the plate against Walker. He has to start laying off.
June 1, 2026 at 7:43 pm #308778If ever there was a number that meant absolutely nothing at all, it’s the one placed next to X-W/L. I have a difficult time understanding why in the world anyone would go to the trouble to even dream up such an utterly silly concept. What could possibly be the purpose of claiming that Tampa should be 30-16 instead of 16 games above even? Come to think of it, they got my attention. Maybe they’re just trying to bother me…Haha!
June 1, 2026 at 7:47 pm #308779They’ve seemed to have always worked to Walker like that. Once they get way ahead in the count, they get him to chase off the outer half.
June 1, 2026 at 8:00 pm #308780Supper was homemade Tex-Mex style burritos. They were really good, but right now I’m experiencing the distinct sensation of an entire crew of little demo men who are hard at work with cutting torches trying to burn through my breastplate…
June 1, 2026 at 8:04 pm #308781I agree 1TD on expected winning percentage. It’s fairly meaningless. There are blowout games where a team sticks with its worst pitchers that can make vast swings in number of runs but it’s still just one win or loss. You can use it to work backwards to guess around what a team’s record is, but using it the other way (as it so often is) is dumb.
June 1, 2026 at 8:07 pm #308782Yeah, Jnevel, ask any old Yankee fan if the silly X-W/L trick makes them feel any better about Mazeroski’s tater.
June 1, 2026 at 8:14 pm #308783This game could be highly improved if the Cardinals could score some runs here.
June 1, 2026 at 8:15 pm #308784McGreevy had to make a pitch after running it full to Pederson and instead placed one in his wheelhouse. Lucky he only ripped it for an RBI single.
June 1, 2026 at 8:23 pm #308785I hope deGROM doesn’t put Walker back in a hitting funk.
He’s been in one the last 15 games or so. Walker been very average in that span and even worse the last 7 games.
June 1, 2026 at 8:27 pm #308786I’m pretty sure some would try to make a case for deGrom as a HOF’er but, in my estimation, the lack of work for a career SP’er precludes his induction. He just achieved the relatively modest 1600 IP’ed plateau with tonight’s turn.
June 1, 2026 at 8:30 pm #308787Winn cuts the lead in half with the solo tater! Every now and again, he really turns on one and generates plenty of power.
June 1, 2026 at 8:33 pm #308788I don’t understand why Gorman is in the lineup. All he does is strikes out. He’s awful.
June 1, 2026 at 8:34 pm #308789Not to mention he’s only a career .589 pitcher who may not realize his 100th W with tonight’s turn.
June 1, 2026 at 8:46 pm #308790The Cardinals lack 3B options dwallyn. That’s why they picked up Urias. Fermin and Saggese can stand there and not look terrible, but neither has a very good track record. Prieto has looked better there at Memphis this season, but he hasn’t hit at all in the Majors. If they had another option, I think they’d do it now.
Gorman’s saving grace has been that his defense has been pretty good. With occasional power that shows up, that isn’t terrible. But I agree that he’s looked even worse lately.
June 1, 2026 at 9:00 pm #308791Looks to me like you better get in line for the post game spread in front of Burger and Pederson.
June 1, 2026 at 9:00 pm #308792Yeah, they run him out there to the left corner of the IF and hope he occasionally walks into one.
June 1, 2026 at 9:00 pm #308793deGrom made everyone look bad, some badder than others.
June 1, 2026 at 9:04 pm #308794I wasn’t at all sad to see him exit after 5.
June 1, 2026 at 9:06 pm #308795For a second there I thought the Ranger 2B’man was Manny Trillo…
June 1, 2026 at 9:07 pm #308796Golden Sombrero for Walker. I think he’s on a 200 K pace if this keeps up.
June 1, 2026 at 9:08 pm #308797Gorman’s saving grace has been that his defense has been pretty good. With occasional power that shows up, that isn’t terrible. But I agree that he’s looked even worse lately.
So basically we have a left-handed Nado on our hands who’s a windmill.
June 1, 2026 at 9:10 pm #308798That was a real ugly Das Boot from Gorman.
June 1, 2026 at 9:12 pm #308799Soriano really walking into a tough luck night on the mound.
June 1, 2026 at 9:16 pm #308800Houdini…
