I hope deGROM doesn’t put Walker back in a hitting funk.

These pitchers with any control are absolutely living on the outside of the plate against Walker. He has to start laying off.

If ever there was a number that meant absolutely nothing at all, it’s the one placed next to X-W/L. I have a difficult time understanding why in the world anyone would go to the trouble to even dream up such an utterly silly concept. What could possibly be the purpose of claiming that Tampa should be 30-16 instead of 16 games above even? Come to think of it, they got my attention. Maybe they’re just trying to bother me…Haha!

They’ve seemed to have always worked to Walker like that. Once they get way ahead in the count, they get him to chase off the outer half.

Supper was homemade Tex-Mex style burritos. They were really good, but right now I’m experiencing the distinct sensation of an entire crew of little demo men who are hard at work with cutting torches trying to burn through my breastplate…

I agree 1TD on expected winning percentage. It’s fairly meaningless. There are blowout games where a team sticks with its worst pitchers that can make vast swings in number of runs but it’s still just one win or loss. You can use it to work backwards to guess around what a team’s record is, but using it the other way (as it so often is) is dumb.

Yeah, Jnevel, ask any old Yankee fan if the silly X-W/L trick makes them feel any better about Mazeroski’s tater.

This game could be highly improved if the Cardinals could score some runs here.

McGreevy had to make a pitch after running it full to Pederson and instead placed one in his wheelhouse. Lucky he only ripped it for an RBI single.

He’s been in one the last 15 games or so. Walker been very average in that span and even worse the last 7 games.

I’m pretty sure some would try to make a case for deGrom as a HOF’er but, in my estimation, the lack of work for a career SP’er precludes his induction. He just achieved the relatively modest 1600 IP’ed plateau with tonight’s turn.

Winn cuts the lead in half with the solo tater! Every now and again, he really turns on one and generates plenty of power.

I don’t understand why Gorman is in the lineup. All he does is strikes out. He’s awful.

Not to mention he’s only a career .589 pitcher who may not realize his 100th W with tonight’s turn.

The Cardinals lack 3B options dwallyn. That’s why they picked up Urias. Fermin and Saggese can stand there and not look terrible, but neither has a very good track record. Prieto has looked better there at Memphis this season, but he hasn’t hit at all in the Majors. If they had another option, I think they’d do it now.

Gorman’s saving grace has been that his defense has been pretty good. With occasional power that shows up, that isn’t terrible. But I agree that he’s looked even worse lately.

Looks to me like you better get in line for the post game spread in front of Burger and Pederson.

Yeah, they run him out there to the left corner of the IF and hope he occasionally walks into one.

I wasn’t at all sad to see him exit after 5.

For a second there I thought the Ranger 2B’man was Manny Trillo…

Golden Sombrero for Walker. I think he’s on a 200 K pace if this keeps up.

So basically we have a left-handed Nado on our hands who’s a windmill.

That was a real ugly Das Boot from Gorman.
