RHP Kyle Leahy (5-3, 3.94) vs. RHP Chris Paddack (0-5, 7.07)
Cards.TV // KMOV // KMOXNow scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET/12:10 p.m. CT on Saturday.
May 21, 2026 at 8:31 pm #3079333 this weekend at Cincinnati.
3 next week at Milwaukee.
3 next weekend vs the Cubs at Busch.
In the next ten days we could be several games out. Unlikely that we win 6-7 of these 9 games.
May 22, 2026 at 11:09 am #307948Here’s your early meteorological report:
As I type this – 1210 est – there is a ton of green stuff in the Cincinnati area. Who knows if it might clear out in time for the game. There also appears to be some more southwest of Cincinnati as well. We will be fortunate if this game is played, or just delayed.
In other words, no Cardinals Catfish Fiddlers Friday today.

May 22, 2026 at 2:08 pm #307958This game is postponed. Rained out.
May 22, 2026 at 4:56 pm #307960I believe it will be replayed as part of a day/night DH tomorrow.
However, I could stand corrected. Anybody?
And on the Friday out-of-town scoreboard:
The Astros beat the Cubs. 4-2 Houston your final at Wrigley this afternoon.
May 22, 2026 at 5:18 pm #307961Game or no game, I am having smoked turkey, dressing, and mashed potatoes with turkey gravy.
May 22, 2026 at 5:45 pm #307962Tonight’s Reds-Cardinals game has been postponed and will be made up as the first game of a split doubleheader tomorrow, May 23, at 1:10 PM.

May 22, 2026 at 5:48 pm #307963That’s the spirit, Cardinals27! No way Cardinals27 was going to let a little rain stand between him and a quality din-din. Due to the inclement weather, I’m calling it early. Today’s Din-Din of The Day honors go to……Cardinals27 and his delicious Kentucky smoked turkey, Alberta dressing, Idaho mashed potatoes with northern Wisconsin turkey gravy. Well played……or should I appropriately say “well plated”, Cardinals27.
May 22, 2026 at 6:10 pm #307967Day/Nighter tomorrow in CIN. My source says 12:10 CDT and 6:15 for the nightcap. Anyone recall when the break between the 1st and 2nd game of a twin bill was a little longer than a 7th inning stretch?…I think it was approx. 15 to 20 minutes or so. I’ve sat through quite a few of those when I was still a young man. We’d sometimes leave for a little bit and then obtain readmission with the ticket stub. If one or both of those games extended into extras, you’d get to watch 7 or more hours of Big League baseball. They weren’t so incredibly obsessed with “speeding up the game” so everyone could get the heck out of there and go home…I can only speak for myself, but I enjoyed hanging around for a little while.
May 22, 2026 at 6:12 pm #307968From checking the forecast they might be looking at another rainout before this weekend series concludes.
About time for the Doyers and Brewers from County Stadium in Milwaukee. I am sure Front Row Amy will be in attendance for this one since Ohtani is in town.

ParticipantWell had got some free tckts to the otters game here in eville, some of my team was going. So i was taking one of the boys and his younger brother but just as i picked them up, game got postponed, like cardinals being made up tomorrow as double header. Kids leaving on family trip tomorrow so couldnt take to that so did skyzone which is a racket. I git there about 6 or so, they said i could buy a bracelet which is normally 2 hours but glow jumping started at 7 so i would have to buy another bracelet for same price to keep jumping, rediculous. I let them stay til they finally kicked them out. Took em to mcdonalds playplace and a mcfleury to finish out the night.
May 22, 2026 at 8:57 pm #307976Taking another quick gander at the out-of-town scoreboard this Friday evening:
The Brewers lead the Doyers 5-0 in the 8th at County Stadium. Front Row Amy in attendance tonight and looking lovely.
The Pirates trail 6-2 in the 8th at the Toronto Skydome.
The Indians down the Phillies. 1-0 your final at Veterans Stadium.
WhiteSox and Giants coming up from Candlestick Park in San Francisco.
May 22, 2026 at 9:00 pm #307977On the absence of a game to watch, here was MY dinner. Feel free to either poke fun or pity me… 5 baked boneless baked chicken thighs, a big honking bowl of spinach fot my 6th serving of veggies, a protein drink and string cheese stick.
In my defense I’m diabetic with a 15% functional pancreas. Spent 39 days in the hospital whe my pancreas exploded (necrotizing pancreatitis) I went from a dad bod chubby 209 to a 135 pound guy that would get sand kicked on me at the beach. 2 1/2 years later I’m a pretty healthy 155 pounds. Thanks to a tremendous doctor and my wife, and RN who stuck with me every single night I was hospitalized.
I like living vicariously through your dinners. Keep ’em coming. 🙂
May 22, 2026 at 9:28 pm #307978That sounds real good, Jedi. I actually prefer the drumsticks and thighs over the white meat of them yardbirds. Spinach is also one of my favorites, but I’ve been enjoying quite a few cans of Glory brand collard greens lately. In fact, one of my favorite repasts is Bush’s bacon flavored black eyed peas with plenty of Tobasco, a can of collard green with a dash or five of LaPreferida green pepper sauce with some white rice on the side along with 3 or 4 Jiffy brand corn bread muffins straight out on the oven and all slathered up with strawberry jelly. Then, all washed down with a tall glass of iced tea. As I’ve neared 70, I just don’t eat as much red meat as I once did. It keeps the doc happy, but I never tell him about all those hot dogs that I still sneak in from time to time…In any case, I’m happy to hear that you’ve been able to get back up to speed. I’ve come to find out that this getting old business isn’t for cream puffs and cupcakes…Haha!
May 23, 2026 at 8:19 am #307990A bold (some may say silly) statement, but I strongly feel that this series in Cincy is the most important series we’ll play all year. On the heels of getting spanked at home by Pittsburgh, at this critical juncture, if we play poorly vs the Reds, it’s going to shoot us down a trail that is not littered with success. I generally get a pretty fair feel on which teams will win, but I wouldn’t touch betting this series with a 10 foot pole. One can literally flip a coin……and hope it comes up Cardinals.
Great din-din Jedi!
I have a wedding to attend early this afternoon, but hope to be game threading it with you all for the nightcap…….if the Wild Turkey doesn’t get the better of me.
May 23, 2026 at 9:47 am #307996Scott Blewett and Chris Roycroft both pitched for Memphis last night, so it would be a surprise to not run into Ryan Fernandez as the extra pitcher for today.

May 23, 2026 at 9:53 am #307997The boys need to pull out of the nosedive. 3 losses in the last 4 games, and the win was the 10 inning affair. But we have the right starters going today, Leahy and Pallante. I say that because they are the last two starters to have notched a win, Leahy on May 16 and Pallante on May 12. McGreevy last won on May 8 and Liberatore on May 7. Moneybags May last won on April 21.
We should see Torres make his major league debut today. Very excited about that.

Exhibit A why pitching wins are not a good measure.
Here are May’s five starts since his last win on April 21. Four of the five outings are quality starts. How many other Cardinals starters are going six innings regularly?
Perhaps more runs being scored behind him and better relief would change the outcome.

5.1 IP, 4 ERMay 23, 2026 at 10:59 am #308000The wins doesn’t matter argument always cracks me up. It is similar to how winners never say the season is a marathon, its always the losers saying that. When a guy wins 20 games who ever says wins doesn’t matter? Nobody. 100% of the time, if somebody is saying wins doesn’t matter, they are talking about a guy with a losing record. Its finding something to look at besides what matters. Its like they say, I can’t see the forest because all those trees are in the way.
May 23, 2026 at 11:08 am #308001I just put the finishing touches on CiF’s famous Saturday night pizza din-din – sausage, green pepper and mushrooms – and will sling it into the oven in the next few minutes. I’ll wash it down with a tall glass of iced tea. Madame CiF has chosen a bottle of Beaujolais. We’ll finish with a bowl of raspberries.
Our birds appear to have lost some of their offensive energy in recent days which I hope has been regained with yesterday’s extra day off. It’s always fun to whip up on those other boys in red, so let’s do it today!
Rah Cardinals!
May 23, 2026 at 12:11 pm #308003Bling, in Brian’s defense, he’s not saying wins don’t matter. He’s saying pitching wins don’t necessarily reflect a good or poor pitcher. Pitching wins are arbitrarily assigned sometimes and pitchers can pitch great games and lose and pitch poor games and get the win. Pitching wins is quite possibly the dumbest of all tracked baseball stats. Well, that and now we have added ABS challenge tracking %. That is equally dumb. Both things can be indicators of good or bad performance, but the correlation is relatively weak compared to so many other stats.
May 23, 2026 at 12:18 pm #308004Pitching wins were much more relevant back in the day when starters would go between 220-300 innings per season. Now it is almost a miracle if a startger goes over 200. Bullpens are now king so a starter’s w-l record doesn’t reveal what it used to.
