KeepComingBackParticipantI view Blaze Jordan differently. If he can play decent 3B defense I would rather him in STL now instead of Saggese.
That’s the question. From what I’ve read, his arm and glove may be adequate (40 grade both) but his speed and range isn’t. He may just be one of those guys you have to get up here and see if you can tolerate it. I know this. If he isn’t hitting you will hate him over there.
KeepComingBackParticipantThat is reality. If a pitcher can pitch in a way his body will tolerate so that he can stay on the mound, then the next bar is he has to figure out how to pitch effectively whilst still pitching in a way his body tolerates.
That’s a good Blingism.

KeepComingBackParticipantEveryone has their opinions and I have mine. To this point I’ve been entertained and expect that to continue. They don’t have to win. I was highly entertained Wednesday by May’s performance. We don’t see near enough of that anymore-a masterful pitching performance lasting into the late innings. And I’m entertained usually by our defense and believe Walker and Wetherholt are for real. Sure we have a ways to go. But it’s a long way from the depressive team we’ve seen these last several years. If their pitching developes and next year brings a couple more pieces (Baez, Jordan) I may go ahead and retire so I can travel and watch them.
KeepComingBackParticipantUs their minor league teams will be devoid of potential Major League talent. That’s not going to make the owners of their mil clubs happy.
KeepComingBackParticipantI think progressive loss of draft choices would catch up with the big spenders pretty quickly.

KeepComingBackParticipantIt was impossible not to observe the celebration in right field due to the fact that’s all they showed between pitches. But this group was fully engaged in the game. Tapping their heads to question calls and cheering at the appropriate times. Mix in too much alcohol and it’s just another Wrigley field drunk fest.

KeepComingBackParticipantHey you guys all want to meet in the bro’s section tomorrow?
KeepComingBackParticipantI can’t remember a turnaround by a young player quite like this
It’s like he looks the same just standing around but his baseball movements are that of a different guy.

KeepComingBackParticipantI’ve got Costco Short Rib lasagna. It’s thd best lasagna I’ve ever had. Chabatta bread and cottage cheese. Washed down with plenty of diet Arnie Palmers Half and half lemonade and iced tea combo. A little later I have a pint of Ben and Jerry’s Half Baked which I customarily eat I it entirety. Go Cards. May deserves a V.

KeepComingBackParticipantATM-Just for the record-I would have left him in. But it was Oli’s decision and Stanek JoJo and O ‘Brien were lined up for 7 8 and 9. All have been pitching well except OBriens hiccup in SD. Manager is a tough position.

KeepComingBackParticipantI will play devils advocate. If Oli left him in and he got torched, pretty sure there would have been an uprising because he was left in too long. Need a thick skin to play the manager position.

KeepComingBackParticipantSure it’s good when were winning. How about if that turns south?
I think they’re somewhere in between how bad most predicted they would be and how good they’ve been. The baseball Gods rarely get cheated, and that run differential is real. I was disappointed in Libby last night. I thought that 5th inning showed a lack of something besides the physical ability to make a good pitch. But you still need to score 5 runs to win most nights, 2 doesn’t cut it. Our black ⚫️ hole at the end of the lineup cost us at least 2 runs in the first 5 innings. Maybe Knoot will show up with his hair on fire. That would help.

KeepComingBackParticipantLets hope Libs Uncle Charlie is bending like it did last time out in SD.
KeepComingBackParticipantYou are right Willie, different stats have more importance to some fans than they do others. I like war because it can be applied to players in a different era and you can see how great they really were.
Either way, stats have been a central part of baseball Fandom since the inception of the game. I like looking at stats and reading discussions about them better than I like watching TV. I wish I got to more games. I used to go to 1 game of every home series during the season.
KeepComingBackParticipantI think i mentioned I’m an older fan. But my memory is good enough to remember when ba was king. But it just isn’t that way anymore. The guy who’s led the league in ba overall for the last 5 years has been shuffled to 4 different teams. Last year his ba was .303. He had a 1.3 war. Victor Scott 1.7. Pages 1.6. There’s just a lot of stuff besides ba that contributes to a players worth. And at the end of the day, war is $.

KeepComingBackParticipantwhat happened to this 2026 Cardinals squad?
Jordan Walker and JJ Wetherholt happened. In between are 2 guys we already knew could hit. Consistent run producing top of the order night after night.
