    Last night’s late report:

    Pirates lost.
    Brewers lost.
    Cubs lost.

Reds 3-3 in the 11th at Jack Murphy Stadium.

Thunder and lightning here in SW Indiana as I type this. No rain yet so far.

Nice to see the Brewers place one in the wrong column. Hopefully the trend continues long enough for the Cardinals to gain some more ground. I watched the game and A’s hitters tatered up 5 times in their 7-5 W in Las Vegas. I don’t know which venue they played in, but they did a good job with the theatrics every time the A’s hit a HR. Lots of blinding strobe lights along with booming and magnificent fireworks with air raid sirens as the HR hitter trotted around the bases. Just about everything you could come up with except for a chorus line of Vegas showgirls…

They played in Vegas. I believe they play the Rockies in Vegas this weekend as well.

    Reds won 5-3.

The Spaceman really took the brunt of that full on barfight. Nettles almost completely disconnected his pitching arm.

I would love to see a continuation of last night’s thumping of the Mets – strike early and squeeze ’em late. Winning is so much fun!
    Rah Cardinals.

Din-din tonight, I’m afraid to say, was leftovers. We finished off last night’s chicken breast and cream concoction and chocolate cake without regrets.

Went to the Rox-Cubs game as a fan last night. The Rockies played about as well as I have seen them this year as they thumped the Cubs starter Rea and put 7 on the board in the first three innings. Counsell really stuck with the guy though in sort of a “take one for the team” way.

Will be working tonight’s and tomorrow afternoon’s contests against the Chicago National League franchise.

The Rockies have their own “tarps off” crew in an upper section. I wonder if that will be the newest thing around MLB parks?

Din-din? Ain’t happening tonight with working the game. I think tomorrow’s will be fish ‘n chips but will update on the appropriate game thread.

Don’t they feed you at the game, Bikemike? If not, it should be one of the many proposals put forth for serious and careful consideration during the ongoing CBA negotiations. I can only speak for myself, but din-din related issues have the very real potential to provoke a work stoppage…

Great point, TD! Hopefully TD’s words of encouragement for “peaceful” protest, directed at Colorado Rockies ownership to step up to the “plate” in providing meaningful meals for their hard working employees, will gain traction amongst their rank and file. BicycleMike has been on the job for what? About 2 months now. I can’t think of anyone better than BicycleMike to ruffle some feathers and possible unionize the entire organization.

Who is this Christian Scott fellow that the Metropolitans are trotting out there to toe the rubber this evening? I must confess to knowing absolutely nothing about this chap. The only pitching “Scott” that I associate with the Mets is that crafty and tremendously successful hurler from yesteryear by the name of Mike Scott. Hopefully it’ll be bombs away tonight and we take this guy deep a couple times. I think it’s high time that Jimmy Lee Crooks gets off the proverbial schneid and yanks one high up into the upper reaches of the left field rafters. Tonight would be a great night for Mr. Crooks to finally bust a move up here with the big club. Let’s call it 8-5 Birds shall we.

Thanks for posting that, Bling. Looks like we’ll have to wait until tomorrow afternoon to witness a Jimmy Lee Crooks sighting.

Haha!…Yeah, Pugs, din-din’s a primary point of contention of which any consideration of compromise is entirely off the table. We won’t budge when it comes to supper!

Din din is chicken fried chicken, white gravy, baked sweet potato and mustard greens sauteed with bacon. Desert is watermelon.

Thanks for the encouragement to shake some trees about din-din at these games gents! But it might be a tough sell. Technically we are not banned from grabbing something, but the problem is we only get a 15 minute break. Getting to a concession stand, ordering and then consuming in that tight window is difficult, although I see colleagues on occasion stuffing down a hot dog and Coke.

I prefer to skip it and bring a snack – usually fruit and a granola bar and have that while catching an inning (or half an inning) before heading back to the treadmill. Then as I have related, a bowl of Raisin Bran for a snack around 11:15-11:30pm.

Interesting note. We have the exact same record as last season 36-28.
As for this evenings din-din, I had a family lunch at the Oklahoma famous Hideaway Pizza so for dinner it was leftover pizza.

That’s a first rate meal on Bling’s table. I had a late lunch after some time lining things out in the yard, but I’m hungry after glancing at that spread.

That’s no good, Bikemike. The demands will now include a 30 min. breather along with all you can gorge concessions…

Yeah, that is interesting, Osu. After seeing your comment I was reminded that they teased me during the first half of the ’25 season before the gearbox scattered all over the track.

And Frank Tates Jr just walked off the Reds in San Diego. A two out homerun in the last of the 9th and the Padres won 5-4. Only his 2nd homerun of the year.

He’s collected 2 more RBI’s than Nathan Church. And Church leads him 5-2 in taters despite Tatis Jr. having over 120 more trips to the plate than Church. If anyone happens to notice the disparities in those numbers, I fully expect Church to be randomly tested…

I have a strong tendency to approach discussing W streaks in the same manner as has always been applied to an ongoing late inning no-no. It’s absolutely vital to clam up and not utter a solitary word regarding either of those two things…Uh oh, I think I just caught a glimpse of an evil baseball gypsy hovering above the front lawn. He had an unsettling resemblance to Ho Jo…

During post-season play, Ho Jo collected a total of 26 AB’s. He had 1 hit, 0 RBI’s, 0 HR’s and a less than lackluster .038 BA. Despite this monumental failure in high stake games, he collected two WS rings. One with the Tigers and one with the Mets. Poor Ernie Banks…
