Here’s how the Cardinals rate by position through yesterday in WRC+:

    C – 6th
    1B – 13th
    2B – 5th
    SS – 25th
    3B – 20th
    LF – 23rd
    CF – 27th
    RF – 2nd
    DH – 19th

Compared with other teams, CF is our worst position offensively with SS being 2nd worst. Of course there are lots of good hitting Shortstops out there.

We have some good players to trade at the td and offseason. I’m assuming they’re looking at third baseman.

FWIW – Nathan Church just homered late in the game for Memphis to tie it up.

Wetherholt with 2 defensive gems sandwiched around one very poor defensive play by Fermin in the bottom of the 7th. Overall now 3-3 as McClain managed his 2nd homer of the game.

Cardinals catch a break. You can’t have too many friendly baseball gypsies…

For my two centavos, Church is the CF’er.

Why did big brain Marmol take McGreevy out? He had been pitching very well the last couple of innings and I stepped away assuming with 82 pitches he has the 7th. But no bring in an RP who give up the tying run

3rd time through and facing a couple guys who had already homered off him. Plus McGreevey tends to lose velocity late. That’s what I’m guessing Albert.

Maybe 82 is the new magic number?

Yeah, it feels like we could have milked McGreevey for one more. I expected him to be back out there. But it could have gone poorly. No one will ever know I guess.

Jnevel, some other pitchers I understand taking them out early like Liberatore, Pallante, Leahy but May and McGreevy I leave them in there. Especially with the way McGreevy had been pitching the last few. It just feels like they didn’t read the room and instead just as Bling would say read a computer output.

Stewart looked like he suffered a case of whiplash on the swinging 3rd strike.

After two hits and a throwing error, we go up 4-3. Need more runs so O’Brien doesn’t have to come in again.

The Reds implemented their 2006 Tigers defense to help us out there.

The Reds look like a high school team playing defense

Well – 5-3 going to the 9th with O’Brien coming in. Time to clench.

Just 6 hits for the Cardinals this game but we were able to bunch them up and the Reds helped with poor defense in the last inning.

This Reds team is getting to be the undisputed frontrunner in the area of Das Boot expertise.

The Bosider seals the W while collecting his 17th SV which places him 3rd in the Big Leagues in that category.

Good win. O’Brien gives up a double but that’s it. 5-3 good guys with a sweep.

Well, five runs on six hits is not exactly the kind of showing we like, but what the heck, we won!

With 0.2 IP’ed Stanek hijacks the W away from McGreevy who allowed only 2 ER’s while working 6 full. Life ain’t always fair.

Big brain Marmol is an all star coach appointed by a 3 times world series winning manager.

Dobbins 5 innings Friday helped this pitching staff this weekend. Left us with a fresh pen and with the off day tomorrow a nice refresh again.

Marmol has evolved into a good manager for this young team. Bloom is very bright and he wanted him. And not because he’s cheap.

Although they still need 3 W’s to surpass their season high-water mark, the Cardinals now boast the 4th best W/L pct. in the NL.
