Would be nice to keep the offense in high gear and score some runs for McGreevy.

Hopefully we can get the W here. Anytime you win 2 of 3 on the road that’s a good thing.

And din-din on this Sunday will be the usual. A ribeye steak in the air fryer, some jumbo crinkle cut french fries, an ice cold slushy Mt. Dew, a piece of Angel Food cake with chocolate icing, and then a bowl of Turkey Hill Vanilla Bean ice cream. This will all start about the time of first pitch in Cincinnati between the DBacks and Reds at Crosley Field.

Then me and Whitey Herdog will switch over to the Cards and Twins from Metropolitan Stadium in St. Paul. Along with a 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigar.

Ah, the old Met. Harmon Killebrew, Bob Allison, Tony Olivia, Jim Kaat.

Has there ever been a better name for a power hitter than “Harmon Killebrew?”

Met him one time and got his autograph. Super nice guy. Tony Olivia is signing at the National Sports Collectors Convention later this summer. I would get his signature but he signs on Sunday and we are flying out Saturday. Willie McGee is signing Friday and I ordered a ticket, so I will meet Willie this summer.

Every team in the NLC except the Brewers hang a W up on the board in Saturday’s action. Redbirds are back up to 8 games above sea level and perched at 4 games off the pace in the NLC. TLR always said you were as good as your W/L record. If that’s indeed the case, the Redbirds are the 6th best team in the entire Big Leagues. That’s pretty good.

Yeah, that’s hard to beat for us who grew up in 60s-70s. I thought Boog Powell was a good name for a slugger.

Same here Bling. Loved both of those guys. Great names. Worst name for a great player? Johnny Bench!

Rocky Colavito is another good one. Rocky actually tagged a handful more career dingers than the aforementioned John Wesley “Boog” Powell.

Din-din was simple again Sunday – filet of beef, baked potato, crunchy green salad with onions and tomato, finishing with a refreshing fruit salad. Beaujolais was the beverage.

Enjoyable game yesterday, apart from the walk-fest at the end.

It’s nice to see the offense producing. Let’s give McG some hefty support today.

    Rah Cardinals!

Stacking up a new infield at the bottom of the lineup? Wonder what the thinking of the braintrust was on that.

The weather looks to be all clear in the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area for this one. Atmospheric conditions also look favorable in the Cincinnati area as well. A thin line of rain/storms might be heading toward SW Ohio in the next couple of hours but only a slim chance of causing a delay for the DBacks and Reds.

The often used phrase around here is “this team can’t hit” but I think it should be “this team can’t pitch”. I really don’t think trying to win each game 10-8 is a sound strategy. Not sustainable.

Shuffling all of these mitts around to different IF positions has the potential for more Das Boots that are laying on the floor of the North Atlantic.

JJ at SS is interesting. He should be able to handle the position fine with so much experience there. And his glove at 2B has been very good. His arm isn’t nearly Winn’s though.

Yep agreed. The hitting for the team is toward the top of MLB. The pitching has vastly overpeformed what is expected based off underlying stats and they still have been in the bottom half of pitching staffs.

The Cardinals feature two players that are among the top 10 leaders in RBI’s. Only 1 other team in either league can make that claim. And, as always, if the pitching caves the entire season scatters in a hurry.

I won’t hurt anything if Winn maybe feels a little less secure.

    78 OPS+ is a little weak.

Yep and not even an out registered yet and we have 2 challenges…..both overturned. With a friendly tip of the cap to our many(quiet) lady posters, this game may very well set a MLB record for most challenges and most overturned challenges in a 9 inning game.

Rough first inning for the Cardinals and HP umpire.

Oops…..there’s a third challenge and now successful overturned challenge. To speed matters up, maybe the outfield ump and home plate ump can switch places.

I saw her behind the plate at Doyer Stadium week before last. She did okay. Even called Ohtani out on strikes. The pitch was clearly a strike, however.
