Weaver and Flaherty are not the “Ace of the staff”.CMartinez is supposed to be.He has been here for 4-5 years.Weaver is barely into his 2nd full season and Flaherty is basically a rookie.Comprende?
Carlos is also paid pretty damn well to be the leader of the staff now that Waino is pretty much finished.

DeJong needs playing time to get back in form.Fowler needs a ticket out of town.Pham gets 3 hits and then proceeds to show that he is the worlds dumbest baserunner and raggy ass arm on defense.Carlos shows again that 10 cent brain and inability to rise above errors and the mental toughness of a hamster to fold like a cheap tent.You have to like his talent but where the hell is his head in the ballgames?This is a team with a jeckyl/Hyde personality………world beaters for a few games then the 62 Mets for a few games.
Forsch-I think it would be totally foolish to trade Kelly.He has had barely 100 ABs to get a chance to show his talent.Knizner has a good bat but is still behind defensively.As for Pham-he has proven to be a flash in the pan…….with issues healthwise and attitude wise-get him out of here.Adolis Garcia has been having a rough time at AAA although he has picked up a little bit.His defense and power potential might get something.Pham could draw something because he is under team control and some foolish team might be dumb enough to think he can approach last seasons numbers.Plus Cards are deep in OFs in the system.Fowler is un tradeable.Bader and O`Neill and possibly Mercado and maybe Arozarena are the future.Not a 30 ye4ar old malcontent with eye/injury issues.
Kelly got hurt right when his chance happens 25 ABs do not exactly seem like a fair number to judge a player.Pena is average at best and has shown why he has been a career 3rd catcher.Pena is only signed thru this season as is Steve Baron.I sure as hell wouldn
t feel comfortable having Pena as starter if Molina gets concussed again or whatever injury happens next.Molina isnt getting any younger and with age and innings comes less agility,mobility,arm strength etc;.Nobody cheats father time not even Molina.So who is your best defensive catcher in line -Carson Kelly.Why trade Kelly? Kelly is better than Knizner defensively.For people that constantly complain about defense why trade the best defensive Catcher who is behind Molina? Knizner has a good bat and he can play 1B so why not keep Kelly behind Molina next season and let Knizner keep working on his defense at Memphis next season.Then later next season bring Knizner up as a 3rd Catcher/1B/bench bat.Kelly as main backup behind Molina and hopefully getting decent playing time.I prefer a rested Molina for 110-20 games and Kelly starting the rest with Knizner getting his feet wet as late inning replacement.If going to trade for help then trade from the deepest position players (Outfield) Pham,Arozarena,Adolis Garcia, etc;.
Interesting points.My take.
1.a small uptick.36-32 finish 84-78
2. Dont see it happening.JMartinez gets bunch RF time.Bader gets more CF time over Pham.ONeill also gets some OF time.JMartinez says close to .800 Pham .750
3.Wainwright gets a few games as long man.Retires after season.
4.I think you are right.I think Dakota Hudson gets called up for September.Sherriff gets moved to 60 -DL to open roster spot.
5.Agree .Gyorko could be gone .Hoe Wisdom gets att least some sort of shot.He is still leading Memphis in hitting ,walking more and striking out less.
I hope Flaherty is not traded.I would rather trade Carlos Martinez for good prospects and keep Flaherty.Carlos can bring back several good prospects.That said I think MO/FO hold on to their SPs .On the whole the Cards have young arms

Some people will bash MM no matter what.He was a class act.His managing was inconsistent and he did have some good seasons.I wish him well in his future actions.Now its time to see what happens next.
All for moving Pham,Fowler,Gyorko,JMartinez and even Carlos Martinez if the right offer comes along.Pham needs to go elsewhere because Cards have Bader,O`Neill,Mercado, Arozarena,Adolis Garcia,Lane Thomas all much younger and waiting in the wings.Fowler ditto.Gyorko I like but maybe its time to see if a contender needs a 3B with some pop who play adequate defense.JMartinez is a guy who was born to DH.I firmly think that Cards can deal some of the older talent for kids/prospects and still stay on the fringes of contention like they are doing now.Even if you deal for youth/prospects and the team falters at least you have young hungry kids playing for their futures instead of veterans just cashing a check.
Jager- Yadi not declining? Yadi is not the defensive catcher he used to be.He is still good but not even close to elite.
Bader a 4th OF? DeJong as complementary player ? Bader should be put in CF and play nearly every day.His defense alone can be a gamesaver.He has good speed and some power so why not? DeJong is a building block to build around IMHO.DeJong can play good solid defense and hit ………What more could you want?The future of this team is Dejong,Bader,O`Neill,Flaherty,Weaver,Hicks,Hudson,Munoz etc;.
Both of the Reds hits in the 9th where catchable .Pham got a terrible jump on that ball.Fowler still shows no urgency on defense.Luckily Cards escaped further damage.Great game by Gant.Pham also should be glad the Reds were playing the infield in when he singled in 2 runs.With normal defense he hits a RBI groundnut at best.Sometimes you get a little luck going your way.

As much as I don`t like to bring this point up but I think some folks are bringing this up as a black rookie getting ” picked on” by a older white teammate.Some on other boards have brought that issue up because Norris said something considered “inappropriate” a few years back about certain types not playing the game the right way.

s injury cost him and Molina might have had a shot if he didnt miss a month.Gant manged to struggle through a Quality start FWIW.I think thats 2 of his last 3 starts he pitched okay…a little offense would have helped…but like everyone says The others guys wjere just a little better today.So glad DeJong is back.

I am damned glad to see a Cards win…especially versus KungFu-Cueto.Nothing all the troubles the Cards have had for years on their West Coast trips i will take any kind of win.Cards giving SF a beatdown is even better.
