Jose gets the run in, and after the walk, Yadi singles in Pham. 6-3

Very nice work by Gant today. Ultimately I think that’s where his value could lie for the club. He could be a #5 type starter or a guy who can give you 2-3 innings in a tough spot with good results. Poncedeleon might be similar.

Gant did a pretty good job.

I like him out of the pen and in long relief. Starter not as much

Hicks manages to get through it in the 9th but does give up a run. Still, 6-4 is the final.

At 48-46, the Cards will go into the break 7.5 games back of the Cubs (assuming Chicago holds its 5-0 lead in San Diego). St. Louis is sixth in the wild card race, four games back.

Both of the Reds hits in the 9th where catchable .Pham got a terrible jump on that ball.Fowler still shows no urgency on defense.Luckily Cards escaped further damage.Great game by Gant.Pham also should be glad the Reds were playing the infield in when he singled in 2 runs. With normal defense he hits a RBI groundnut at best.Sometimes you get a little luck going your way.

That little luck might be what Pham needs to start a turn around on his offense.
