Pham could have played it safe and stopped at 2B.Thats another option.Like the hustle but maybe stopping at 2B might have been smarter.Damned if you do and damned if you dont. With Pham`s history of baserunning blunders sometimes a little conservative baserunning might have been in order.

Well the time to crap or get off the pot is getting closer for the FO.I would hate to see a losing streak happen now but unfortunately that might be the only thing to really force the FO hand into making a major change or two.Farting around the .500 mark won`t accomplish anything .

So now we have a damned 13 man pitching staff again. How freaking damned dumb will that crap continue to be? This is bordering on idiotic.I don`t give a damn if it is even for 1 or 2 games.Jeeze get some damn position guys up now.

I get the dislike (hate) for the Front office/Mo but lying to the fanbase? Get real.Nobody could have predicted Alez Reyes and Wainwright and Gregerson and Leone would all get seriously injured.Mo signed Holland who has flopped completely. He was one of the closers the rabble was clamoring for.Who could have predicted lyons flop,Molina`s injury,Carpenter poor start,Phams crashing back to reality(told you all so).Gyorko ,Fowler and Wong underperforming along with Ozuna and DeJong getting injured. So being seen as lying to the fanbase is beyond crazy IMHO.It has been a perfect storm of misfortune this season.I see no lying involved.I see a glass half-full FO who could be realizing now that th glass is leaking .

Luken Baker and Nolan Gorman have done well so far.I expect Baker to do well since he is playing mostly against younger players.Same with Kevin Woodall.Gorman is playing well at 18.Baker just keeps hitting and hitting and hitting……I am wondering if this could be another fast track thru the system like DeJong.i know it is still early but Bake sure doesn`t seem to be overwhelmed by the pitching he has seen so far.The true test will still be coming as he advances. But it is nice to see Cards early picks hit the ground running. Some of them are .

Has Ryan Sherriff ever been moved to the 60-DL? I don`t think so.That would open a roster spot up.

Since ONeills BB/K rate is better than Grichuks I think Oneilol is showing better patience and discipline.I think when he does come up he needs to play every day and not get a start once or twice a week.Fowler can be the leagues highest paid bench player/puinch hitter for all I care.He just isnt getting it done offensively or defensively. He will turn out to be the as bad as the Danny Jackson signing.

Nice little article Brian.Nice of Mr.Horn to share.Stan was my boyhood favorite and the reason I am a Cards fan nearly 60 years.I asked this on another message board……..Does anyone remember a glossy book titled Musial and Mays .I think I ordered it from a ad in the Street and Smith Baseball guide around 1960 or so.Great book with many game pictures about Stan and Willie Mays the top 2 players in the NL at the time.Had it for years and some where along the way it disappeared.Sure wish I still had it.

25-you are probably right.I hope the FO doesn’t fart around nothing very little. That said I is probably exactly what will happen.FO will trade for LH arm for the pen and continue hoping Fowler remembers how to play baseball and everyone else gets healthy and contributes.

25-I doubt Ozuna is going anywhere.I think he gets a mulligan because I think there is a shoulder injury or another injury he is keeping silent about(as is the team).Fowler is untraceable…
So the logical move is trading Pham because he is older, has injury and eye issues.Bader,O’Neill,Mercado are the future.Fowler is stuck here unless some fool team wants him and Cards probably eat a large chunk of his salary.Ozuna cost the Cards several prospects so I really doubt the Cards will give up on him after less than 100 games.

Tyler O’Neill hits his 3rd homer today Memphis up 7-4 in the 8th inning. When is the FO going to give him a real chance instead of screwing around with Fowler/Pham?

I like Moustakas but is he really a real upgrade for 3B? I don`t think so.Merrifield is interesting but I expect KC to sell high for him.Gscottar is right..you have to fix the bullpen.I really doubt Cecil,Lyons and Gregerson go anywhere except maybe the DL (Lyons ?)As for Holland I think he is on thin ice right now and just maybe Cards bite the bullet and just DFA him or release him outright before the end of the month.

Why trade Ozuna? He is still just 27 and you have to hope for a rebound season next year.Ozuna has been disappointing but he hasn`t been the black hole Fowler has been offensively and defensively.Fowler is sunk cost right now unless he rebounds at least to just Mendoza like. You want to trade someone then you trade the 30 year old malcontent with eye/injury issues (Pham).Mickolas has been a lifesaver and Wacha is a enigma. So the FO has to decide which direction to go.It seems like Jose Martinez and ZGyorko could be headed elsewhere by the deadline.

Good comeback win.Shows some grit.Coming back to tie and then getting the lead in the 9th is nice to see .DeJong gets GW hit.Pham adds some insurance.

Since Lyons has fallen off the face of the earth this season and Gomber has had the usual rookie struggles and combine that with Cecil`s inconsistent pitching when do the Cards make a move concerning a LH bullpen guy? I know Layne at Memphis has done well there and Tyler Webb is at Memphis also…so I wonder will one of them get a shot (Webb is on th 40-man I think,Layne is not) or will FO/MO ddeal for a lefty soon?Best guesses people… I know the FO said that they will be looking for long-term help not just a rental so?

Cards score 18 run s off the Cubbies and storm knocks out power and cell phone reception with Cards leading 5-0.All the while I am wondering if Cards go the game in.Power comes back on just a few minutes ago sio I check the score and see 18 runs.Great .Carpenter is playing like a man possessed and even the Anti-Christ Pham got 3 hits.It figures the biggest offensive outburst all season and I miss most of it.Damn.I just hope some of those runs today aren’t going to be needed tomorrow.Seems that is how it go this season.

While understanding wanting to see Fowler right his ship I think that Fowler was underperforming the first half last season and played better the 2nd half and he has been beyond terrible so far this season. If you are a half-full glass person you could say he will pick up his play this half.Half-empty glass person says Fowler has had 2 poor half season of the last 3 he played for the Cards. At what point do you decide Fowler is a lost cause and start playing for the future by playing Bader/O`Neill and bring up Mercado?Do you wait another 20-30 games and then say enough? As for DeJong he is simply the best SS on the roster and Cards need to live with the bumps along the way.You can not say that about Fowler and IMHO Pham either.I think Bader can play better defense in CF and give comparable offense without the basepath blunders and better base stealing.Mercado can possibly provide a lift if given a chance.32 year old underperforming veteran and 30 year old with multiple issues are not the future IMHO.Same with Gyorko……big disappointment this year..time to consider seeing if any team has interest.Gyorko is signed thru 2019 fairly reasonable amount so he could draw interest for that reason also.

DeJong is having a rough go on his return,But he is the best Cards have for SS.Plus his bat is needed also.So not understanding why he needs to play makes me question why that is hard to understand. I realize we all look differently at the same situation but come on people. As for Fowler not getting a chance to work out of his funk……………………………….his play is so bad he looks like he is just going thru the motions to me.Enough of him.Munoz gets ripped constantly for his defensive work at SS and Gyorko/Garcia are less than adequate at SS so DEJong almost has to play into form.

So CMart should get a pass because he has had some success in the past? Yet some of the same posters will crucify Bowman/Cecil every chance because they have been disappointing after having success in their roles before.I get on Cmart because he is supposed to be the guy who shuts the other team down and starts a winning streak for our team.
I agree vthat DeJong is not ready for 3rd in the batting order.Hand injuries for hitters are definite game changers. He needs to be hitting 6th instead. As for Fowler ..it was a mistake contract…but since it is what it is ………he would not be the 1st player to suddenly lose it and go south all of a sudden.Pham had a positive yesterday 3 hits,a negative..idiot baserunning pickoff again..that is 5 or 6 times now this season,,a negative poor throw in CF……
All in all a few positives and a bunch of negatives.
