Nice all around win. Hits power pitching
Let’s get another tomorrow!
Sure is telling when we get little to no chatter when things or players don’t perform the way people seem to want them to, to validate their angst.
If you want to call it reality or criticism the it sure seems like for it to not be considered bias that it should work both ways. Be harsh on the critique but just as emphatic when things go well.
And don’t give me “it’s a late game” that never seems to matter when things Arng going wel late. Last night was even later and we got more chatter. And it was a decent game but not as nice as this one IMO.
Nevertheless I’ll happily take a quiet non abusive thread in exchange for some Cardinals wins.
Get back at it tomorrow and get at least the split tomorrow boys!

I only agree because he has nowhere to go but up. Even you can look at the numbers and see that. He’s an cost effective 5th starter who wears out a bullpen. Are we really going to hold up guys like Hudson for this guy? I don’t see that upside!
Dexter Fowler is the same way. Maybe Shoenfeld should’ve picked him as well. Maybe Ozuna because he’s in between them as far as I’m concerned!
I hope Weaver has upped his value in a trade because his ceiling is Leake and floor is MArco Gonzales. We’ve got better in the pipeline. I have more faith in Gant and yet I feel he’s better suited for the pen.
They’ll send down a bullpen arm before Munoz. They don’t really need an extra arm at this point with 2 days off upcoming and the break.
Sorry, jager. I went to bed after the first inning last night and probably will do the same tonight so you won’t likely see much of me on the game thread. As for the night before, I suspect it was due to the holiday.
Anyway, good win last night. Cueto wasn’t sharp at all and the Cards pounced. Hopefully Dejong will be back tonight. Although Muñoz has done an admirable job filling in, Paul is the superior player and should provide a boost to the offense in coming back.
Think Fowler gets any starts this series??

I don’t think Weaver’s ceiling is Leake at all. He throws harder than Leake but if he had Leake’s control (which he did all the way through the minors) he would easily be a #3 type starter. I still hold some hope that Luke will reach that down the road.
Great win. Weaver was terrific, and the offense got it going early and often. Like McCarver said at the start of the broadcast, the key to Weaver being effective is to get ahead of the hitters. Pretty simple, but he has not been able to effectively locate his pitches in most starts, leading to a lot of pitches thrown, too many walks, and too many disadvantaged counts.
On a side note, my guy Marco won again last night, win #9. I have sort of been following him as he is a Colorado guy, and of course our top pick a few years ago. Glad to see him have success.

I am damned glad to see a Cards win…especially versus KungFu-Cueto.Nothing all the troubles the Cards have had for years on their West Coast trips i will take any kind of win.Cards giving SF a beatdown is even better.Very nicely dealt effort indeed by Weaver. 93 pitches thru 8 complete innings! He usually logs that many heaves with only 6 innings of labor. At the risk of sounding like a Davie Downer, the early offensive outburst certainly made Weaver’s life much easier last evening. Let’s see how efficient he’s going to be from this point on in tight games. Have my fingers crossed.
MGonzales and Leake have combined for 17 wins. I’m glad they’re in the AL and up in that part of the country. At least Marco is in the bigs while O’Neill (traded for) waits and waits to get a few ABs.
The Cards have three good OFers and one that they’re stuck with until they can find a way to resolve it. Tyler will be fine and probably a starter in 2019 at 23/24. I still think that trade will work out well for both teams before all is said and done.
Our team sure seems to play better when we have players playing in their correct position. Coincidence?
O’Neill is not being held back. He is just having bad luck. He was hurt twice in spring training and could not play enough to make the team. This time up, he got hurt again after six at-bats.
