I think these guys will likely be gone via trades before Spring training.
1.Jed Gyorko-decent 3B with reasonable salary are needed by Baltimore,TB,White SOx,Pittsbiurggh (a RH option with Moran at 3B),SD possible reunion),Minnesota ( alternative to Sano),Boston if Nunez opts out),Mets,Miami.

2.Mike Mayers RHP-hard thrower who is a cheap option for any team wanting middle BP guys.

3.Greg Garcia INF-His main value was semi-versatility and LH pinch-hitter.He was very bad PH this season 6-48 PH and his versatility can be replaced by Munoz/Sosa.

4.Francisco Pena C-I think he gets Dropped 0ff 40-man.His role goes to Carson Kelly.

5.Derian Gonzalez RP- I think he gets dropped or traded because he has not been effective above AA and Cards take chance he gets thru waivers.

6.Brett Cecil LHP- I think he gets traded for whatever Cards can get.Low level prospects whatever?.I think he`s gone.

7.Luke Gregerson RP-not sure about releasing a guy who missed most of season.Union rules? Contract issues?Cards just might eat his contract and/or offer him a chance as a NRI in Spring training .

8.Matt Bowman RHP-possible drop with a NRI to Spring training.

These guys need to be added before rule 5 draft-
    Genesis Cabrera LHP
    Ryan Helsley RHP
    Lane Thomas OF
    Max Schrock 2B
    Ramon Urias INF

Forsch-at this stage I feel all those guys are better than Wainwright.I do like Wainwright but I think his days as a contributor are mostly over.He might flasgh some old magic every now and then but all the others have some upsides while AW is the past.I would love it if AW suddenly reverted back to his old self but it likely won1t happen.Smoke and mirrors only fool hitters for a while .As for his mentoring younger guys that is good. Can he a fill a swingman role next season? I guess we will see.

Too many knee-jerk reactions all around and yes myself included.Having a tantrum over Wainwright re-signing and whining about the perceived future moves or non-moves is a bit silly right now.Yes Mo has made some FA signings that havent worked out but he has also made some good moves too.As for DeWitt and his business sense I think the man has done okay and t6he Cards have been generally successful during his tenure. Why not wait and see what is happening this next few months before getting the pitchforks and torches ready.Times are different now and the days like the 1950s and early 60s are long gone. There will likely never be teams like the Yankees who won the league pennant7 times in the 50s and 5 WS championships.Too much player turnover and free agency makes it harder to keep teams together.Different world, different economics now. While always wanting more from the Cardinals being able tto stay in contention yearly is not a bad thing.Staying in the race without tanking and being able to contend using the model the team chooses is not a bad thing.Thats my opinion and I have been a fan since early 60`s.

Good catch on Taylor Rogers.Looking at all the teams and trying to find a good match for what Cards could be selling (JMartinez,Gyorko,Cecil,Mayers?,Fowler,) is frustrating as hell.Looking for a 3B-1B type who hits lefty is even more frustrating.I just don`t see a lot of matches available.A lefty hitting 3B-1B type would be ideal.KC,Texas,LAA,Oakland,Houston,Minn,WSox,Balt,NYY,TB,CLeve,Tor,Boston,Detroit, all got nothing 3B-1B tradewise IMO.Seattle has Kyle Seager but he has a 20 million salary and is clearly on the downside. Not worth the money.
NL-Only LH hitting 3B I can think of off the top of my head is Jake Lamb of AZ and he doesn`t move the needle much.Anyone got any other real possibilities?

Rats, while no one likes the strikeouts the Cards where not totally inept’
    RISP 2018

    Ozuna .291 44-151
    DeJong .288 32-111
    JMarinez .309 46-149
    O`Neill .355 11-31
    Molina .283 32-113
    Gyorko .311 23-74
    Munoz .324 22-68
    Fowler .175 10-57
    Wong .238 19-80
    Bader .211 16-76
    Carpenter .220 22-100

So as you see DeJong and O`Neill did okay RISP.As did Munoz,Molina,Gyorko,Ozuna,JMartinez.Who are the worst RISP guys-Fowler,Bader,Wong,Carpenter.Wong not a big strikeout guy and neither is Fowler (who is finished IMO).The lineup can always be improved but its not the total blackhole you seem to think.Inconsistent yes, terrible no.

Counting on Alex Reyes for anything is wishing in one hand and crapping in the other.Smart GMs dont count on a guy who has missed nearly 2 seasons in a row.Yes everyone would love to see Alex Reyes pitch in the rotation every 5th day but it wont likely happen. You plan your rotation without Reyes and anything at all you get from him is a bonus.I like the kid and hope he comes back but I think Brett Cecil has a better chance of pitching better than Alex Reyes making a impact this coming season .Alex Reyes makes Josh Donaldson look like lou Gehrig.

For people wanting to trade ONeill you forget that Ozuna is likely gone after next season. The black albatross (Fowler) likely will still be a parasite on the team.Fowler likely will continue too grossly underperform his contract so trading the best young power guy in the system is flat out dumb.Neither Cuban has proven remotely able to do jack in the MLB.Arozarena hasnt had a good complete season in AAA yet and ADoofus Garcia looks unready.Thinking about Harper is a pipe dream.Ditto with Machado.

Trading ONeill would be beyond stupid IMO.You want tpo trade somebody then trade JMart...lousy defense and 30 yeears old.Smart GMs dont trade 23 year old kids with huge potential and have improved every year as a Pro.He has speed ,he has power and he has improved his K/BB rate every year.So why trade him? Trade the blundering Cuban or the underperforming other Cuban(Arozarena).

    Alex Reyes- can`t stay healthy.
    Wacha- ditto.
Cmart -Flaky and had injury issues
    Mikolas-saved the staff this year.
    Flaherty- solid season.
Weaver- bad season but young enough to rebound.
    Poncedeleon-still untried mostly
    Gomber-a partial season
    Gant-can fill spoit starter/swingman roles.
    Helsley-missed half a season?
Wainwright-I like Waino but throwing money at a picher who is done IMO.

Looks to me like Cards have several options but a long way from a stable starting staff.

    my two cents worth;
    Adams,Ross,Norris, gone Free agency.
Wainwright FA who comes back on a team friendly deal.
Greg Garcia-released or packaged on fringes of a bigger trade.( Schrock,Edman,Sosa,Munoz possible backup utilty player options)
Tyler Webb LP-outrighted with the Cards wanting him to go to Memphis.Maybe NRI spring training?(Shreve, maybe Gomber LH options)
Gregerson-released-Cards eat 5.5 million( Leone,Hudson,Weaver,Gallegos,Brebbia,Helsley all possibles-Helsley will likely be added to 40-man roster IMHO).

trade bait-Gyorko,Cecil,Mayers,JMartinez-I think all 3 will be traded……Cecil for whatever Cards can get and hoping some team will eat some of his salary.
Gyorko-some team will want a 3B with some pop and decent defense.
Mayers-hard throwing RP might bring something .
Jose Martinez-some team will want his bat /his defense makes him a liability IMO.

Genesis Cabrera LHP,Lane Thomas OF,Ryan Helsley RHP added tp 40-man IMHO.

Yadi`s pride be damned.Team first.Always.If he is the Pro leader that he is supposed to be then he should let the manager manage and realize with proper rest he can be the best for the team.If Molina only wants to decide when he plays then there is a problem and management needs to nip that crap .Molina is a player…not a mamanger. If Molina refuses to go with the program then ship his butt elsewhere where he thinks he cam be numero uno first.

If a player refuses to take time off and insists on playing every day no matter how poorly he is playing then the manager needs to sit said player for a time.If Molina’s pride get hurt because he refuses to accept that his play declines when he get tired and worn out then he is in denial. The manager is supposed to be in charge ,not Molina.Team first notolina first.

I think Forsch,25 and I agree that a rested Molina for 120 games is better than a raggy drag ass worn out Molina. It lets Molina stay healthier and it lets Kelly get actual semi-playing time.Pena is what he is …a 3rd catcher who is okay on a roster as long as he doesn`t have to play too much.

Yadi should have absolutely no say in who is the backup catcher.Molina needs to shut up and catch.let him catch 120 games a year Kelly the other 42.Molina wants to decide the roster then he can just retire and work his way up to manager instead of being a primmadonna.

If push comes to shove I would rather see Iglesias signed to be glove first SS and DeJong move to 3B.Don`t want any part of kyle Seagers monster contract. For what he makes you can get 2 or 3 solid role players.
Not a big Pollock fan.he is okay but IMHO other areas need fixing more and since it is unlikely Fowler goes anywhere and Cards won`t eat that much money.

I might be in the minority here but I think Carpenter should be dangled as trade bait.Same with Gyorko. Some team surely would have interest in Carps bat.Gyorko is a FA after 2019 so why not see what he can bring?Jose Martinez as trade bait also.Angels need a 3B..Cozart could be trade bait for the Angels. Not saying go for Cozart.Rather see Cards try for Matt Thaiss 1B propect.Angels need pitching …maybe a package of Gyorko,Mayers and Andrew Morales for Matt Thaiss 1B.

Rats- you need to check out O`neill stats history. He improved his K/BB rate in his 2nd time around in the AAA and as I have stated many times he is not a Pinch-hitter type 3-18 with 10 Ks.His history suggest a improvement with experience and regular playing time.
