ParticipantBlackHillsCard’s Picks:
#21 – Justin Williams
#22 – Max Schrock
#23 – Conner Capel
#24 – Steven Gingery
#25 – Evan MendozaOctober 2, 2018 at 8:49 am #7151221 Sosa
22 Schrock
23 Oviedo
24 Delvin Perez
25 Greene – Guy still has a major league arm. I am looking for players with the tools to become major league players.October 2, 2018 at 9:49 am #7151721-Schrock
22-Mendoza
23-Capel
24-Torres
24-FagaldeOctober 2, 2018 at 10:15 am #7152121) Wisdom. Based upon Gyrko’s performance, of lack thereof, Patrick is a cheaper replacement. He runs the bases well, fielding is the same, but does make less contact.
22) Elledge. Exciting reliever prospect with mid 90’s fastball, and supposedly could gain velocity. ETA possibly 2019.
23) Greene. Big time arm, just needs a reliable breaking pitch/changeup.
24) Schrock. I think he will bounce back to his .300 hitting in 2019. Under rated fielder, but lacks other positional flexibility for utility role.
25) Walsh. Made big strides getting all the way to Palm Beach. I believe his coach said he threw in the mid 90’s as a reliever last year.October 2, 2018 at 10:32 am #71524UncleDenny
ParticipantElledge
Herrera
Cedeno
Torres
Young (more pop by far than Edman)October 2, 2018 at 10:56 am #71533UncleDenny
ParticipantTough call this yr. So many appear to have upside but need another year to see how they progress. Still have Mateo Gill, Dennis Ortega, Julio Rodriguez, Evan Mendoza, Johan Oviedo, and others beside my picks.
October 2, 2018 at 1:19 pm #71543I think Rodriguez should be ranked head of Ortega. He has more pop in his bat, and his defensoive stats are better. Not sure if Ortega has a better rapport with the staff he catches. Too bad they have to split time, which they likely will again at Palm Beach in 2019.

ParticipantWho is older Ortega or JuRodriguez? It looks like they may be twins.
October 3, 2018 at 9:15 am #71624While the two catchers were born on the same day, it is worth noting that Ortega may be more advanced, but Rodriguez signed more than two years later, meaning he has two more seasons of career runway, and has advanced more quickly.

ParticipantI wouldn’t be surprised if Ortega was sent to Springfield for that reason and Rodriguez to PB so both get more playing time. Ortega is subject to Rule 5 already.
October 3, 2018 at 7:50 pm #7167621. Andy Young – He’s doing everything right, including power numbers at both Palm Beach and Springfield. Not sure why he’s not getting much love.
22. Ramon Urias
23. Evan Mendoza – Highly regarded for defense at third. I think he’ll eventually get a look at the major league level because of that.
24. Steven Gingery – One to follow next year.
25. Seth Elledge – Possibility is there.October 4, 2018 at 11:05 am #71729PadsFS

Participant#26 Gingery – Cards feel that they got a steal in the 4th rd. He’s only 21 and should catch up quickly.
#27 Walsh – had a terrific year and selected TCN’s Palm Beach’s Pitcher of the Year.
#28 Torres – tore up GCL’s pitching at .397. The 6’4″ OFer is just 18. Better than average odds to make a splash in ’19.
#29 JuRodriguez – Defensive minded C that should move up to PB and maybe SPGF. Adequate bat and disciplined hitter… his K/AB = .105 and SLG = .405. A man on the rise.
#30 Pinder – Talented OFer that split the season PB/SPGF and improved his BA with the S-Cards (hit.296 in Aug after moving up).October 4, 2018 at 12:36 pm #7174426 Sosa

30. GreeneOctober 4, 2018 at 1:04 pm #71752I’m with Jags on Fagalde. Seems like a good time to break out a little Espanol in tribute to our fine posters south of the border. If I may, I would like to encourage other posters who are fluent in Espanol to every 200th post or so, to write it in Espanol, just to make our southern friends feel at home:
Doseyseis- Alejandro “El Magnifico” Fagalde
Doseysiete- Edmundo Sosa
Doseyocho- Leandro Cedeno
Doseynueve- Chris “El Pelicano” Ellis
Trecycero- Patricio Wisdom

ParticipantDon’t see Ellis added to 40 man. Wisdom may be serviceable as bench player. Given age hard to see him ranked this early as prospect. Be interesting to see if Urias protected from Rule 5 and free agency.
October 4, 2018 at 2:41 pm #7176626) Ramon Urias — Second baseman destroyed AA at age 23 in his first taste of U.S. minors.
27) Edmundo Sosa — Like Lane Thomas, he advanced to AAA at 22 by producing & staying healthy.
28) Jhon Torres — The 18-yr-old RF posted a gaudy 163 wRC+ across two domestic rookieball leagues.
29) Leandro Cedeno — Hits.
30) Joerlin De Los Santos — Elite season in the DSL at 17, overshadowed by teammate Malcom Nunez.
Here’s some footage of J. D.L.S. from before he switched to center field:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZzZIpUrKJc
I’m no scout, but he doesn’t look like Delvin Perez or Jonatan Machado, i.e., he doesn’t look like he’ll get the bat knocked out of his hands by quality pitching.
