Brewers non-tender Dan Jennings LP-might be worth looking at for bullpen.

If this team takes on Greinke`s contract they should be tarred and feathered. If you are going to spend 30 million then do a damned player with a future (Harper). Not a damned 35 year pitcher.Crazy talk running amuck.

I don’t see how anyone could think that getting a 1B and moving Carpenter to 3B would be a good move.
I still say go all in for Harper.I doubt it happens though.I think Cards end up with Moustakas at 3B and Gyorko gets traded.I big resounding NO to Brantley.

I just dont buy the fascination with Adolis Garcia as a bigtime prospect or trade bait.He is almost 3 years older than Oneill, has a high K rate and walks rarely .His main asset is his arm.O`neill is doing what Adolis wishes he could do……running thebases, playing defense and hitting homeruns.I do think its early to judge Adolis and he might turn into a asset instead of a costly AAAA player. As for the nonsense about him only being in the system for a couple of years people forget that he played Cuban league ball for years. So far count me as not a fan of what he brings .Lane Thomas does the same things and also is nearly 3 years younger.

I think that Rats and some others dont consider is that ONeill has improved every year at a different level. Why not think that he can not continue to do the same at the big league level? He showed signs of improvement each time he was called up and got regular playing time.Remember he was just 22 when he first came up to the Cards in April. Each time he was brought back he did a little better. He has been and likely will always be a somehat streaky hitter.IMHO it is completely foolish and premature to just rashly state that he won`t work out because…..Using Rats logic then Bob Gibson would have never gotten a extended chance because of his control issues. Some folks seem to expect instant stardom and seem somewhat impatient with some players.

A big hell no to taking for one year rentals.I like Goldschimdt but no way I trade real good prospects for him.If AZ wants Adolis Garcia,Mike Mayers and Tyler Webb..then I would make the trade.

I think Greene and Derian Gonzalez end up in Memphis.Neither is MLB ready or close.Kind of surprised with Urias being added.Tommie Edman can probably handl the utilty role late next season and he is a switch-hitter with speed.
Could be there still might be a move or two before he deadline today.

    I don`t have a problem dropping Adolis Garcia,Mike Mayers,Edmundo Sosa.
My additions would be Lane Thomas ,Ryan Helsley,Genesis Cabrera.I like Max Schrock but I would chance getting him thru rule 5.Urias..just another middle in f guy IMO.Same with Sosa.I think both could be useful but other guys take precedence IMO.

A big HELL NO on Brantley. No way.If Cards fail on Harper then I say go big on run prevention.Sign Jose Iglesias for SS and put DeJong at 3B.Upgrade bullpen from both sides and consider Kuechel for rotation.

Has Gyorko played a full season since coming to the Cards? I think not.Gyorko is best as a utility guy IMHO.Saying he is a good defensive 3B is laughable. He has the mobility of a statue. He is fine if the ball is hit right at him.He should be a complimentary player not a maqin guy.As for Moose I have mixed opinions….I like the LH pop but …….?

Gyorko-solid defense at multiple positions? He is a adequate immobile 3B.A poor SS or 2B.He is okay as a backup but Cards need to upgrade. Is he a difference maker? Not in my opinion. If Cards can use him in trade to upgrade at another position then go for it.There are several other lower cost options available.

Hoping that the FO is on the phone talking withc other teams trying to deal some of the players who need to be gone .Even if its for a middling prospect do it.Time to dump some non-producing guys.Even if its for a PTBNL.Just do FO.

MS-no harm meant. No harm taken. Its cool.Just hashing out some thoughts about the offseason.I hope we both figured wrong and the Cards do get busy this offseason and make upgrades.

I don`t have a problem with the team trading Carpenter,Gyorko,Fowler,,JMartinez,Wacha,Cecil,Mayers,Greg Garcia,Pena. No problem at all.Go young and look to the future.

    C-Molina,Kelly,Knizner
    1B-(trade return ?
    2B-Wong,Schrock
    3B-Wisdom,Munoz
    SS-DeJong, Sosa,Tommie Edman
    LF-Ozuna,Justin Williams
    CF-Bader,Lane Thomas
    RF- O`Neill, Adolfo Garcia

    SP-Flaherty,Mikolas,Gomber,Gant,Poncedeleon,Hudson,Helsley,Alex Reyes,Cabrera,Cmartinez

    RP-Brebbia,Gregerson,Hicks,Leone,Shreve,Webb,Gallegos,Bowman,Weaver,Wainwright,

Could be a very interesting season under that scenario.Unlikely to happen but its fun to wonder how it would fly with the fanbase. That would get several 30 plus year olds and their dollars off payroll except Fowler (Cards eat a bunch of his to get rid of him) and get something for several guys heading into FA after 2019.

MSpaid- I never said do nothing…so don`t be obnoxious.i just said IMO Cards are limited by realistic choices/options.Unless the FO thinks outside the box and makes a trade for a unexpected player ?Do you feel confident the team will really make a big upgrade? I would love to see that happen and dumping some dead weight (Fowler,Cecil,) and trading some others ( Greg Garcia,JMartinez,Gyorko).

My TWO CENTS WORTH- I doubt that Harper signs with the Cards……I think he ends up in Philly.Machado ends up a Yankee. That leaves Moustakas (IMO Brewers decline his 15.0 million option and do the 1.0 million buyout),Josh Donaldson,Michael Brantley(-no way in hell IMO).So what happens next……Looking at trade options…I have read fans wondering about matt Chapman from Oakland (why would the A`s deal him yet?),Matt Olson 1B Power hitting type with big K totals) again why would Oakland trade him yet?,Kyle Seager-no thanks, too expensive for what you get.Donaldson will still want fairly big dollars IMO and since he has missed almost 150 games or so the last 2 seasons…. Big REd flag.I have doubts Cards want to chance paying big money to a guy who will be 33 before the season. So to me it comes back to Moustakas for 3B and LH bat.My guess is he will want to start negotiating at 10 million a year as a starting point or more.Is he worth 12-15 million a year for a bit of a upgrade over Gyorko? He has been fairly durable and last season did hit 28 HRs with 95 RBI…249 BA .315 OBP……459 SLG.
    49 BB 103 Ks
So is he worth the money for the slight upgrade? That is what FO has to decide.
As I said nobody jumps out as a power bat tradewise ( Some have mentioned Pederson from LAD…but with Puig a FA after next season LAD might want Pederson around.
Even checking potential non-tenders …Jonathan Schoop from Brewers?.C.J. Cron 1B from TB provides some power but is limited to 1B and is not too swift defensively (Cards have JMart who lacks the power C.J.Cron has but JMart hits for a higher average,Ks a little less and neither plays Defense worth a crap and Cron hits RH…
Point is I wan to see some upgrades but I just don`t see the realistic options available…not the fantasy land deals .
