The beleaguered outfield coming through! Twice Fowler walked and Carlson brought him in. Cards 4-1 in the sixth.
September 24, 2020 at 9:52 pm #141705Hey that Brewer with the beard in their dugout is a full fledged half-masker! Isn’t there some sort of fine for that?
September 24, 2020 at 9:53 pm #141706Bad plate appearance by Wong there.
Bull has done a masterful job of bringing Carlson along.

These are the guys we’re allowed to root for though. Not those “other” guys that aren’t worth acknowledging when they have good performances. So there’s that.
September 24, 2020 at 9:59 pm #141708Dang, I didn’t get the memo. I thought Fowler was still one of the punching bags.
September 24, 2020 at 10:00 pm #141709Who doesn’t enjoy watching Cabrera pitch? I love him pushing batters off the plate!
September 24, 2020 at 10:03 pm #141710Cabby is special, Brian. He kind of looks like Carlos…. let’s hope he does not follow in his footprints.
September 24, 2020 at 10:07 pm #141711You have to move Kid Carlson up in the order. He’ll end up being a #3 hitter, but for now, I bat him either #6 or in the 2 hole.

ParticipantOutfield next year of Fowler,
Carlson, and someone from outside?September 24, 2020 at 10:09 pm #141713
jj-cf-stlParticipantnah, Fowlers “clean cut” with no “waggle”, he’s safe
September 24, 2020 at 10:11 pm #141714I thought Carlson would be a little better on his recall.
And as far as an outside OF. Yeah they needed it this year but I bet it’s some reclamation project at best.
September 24, 2020 at 10:12 pm #141715Hit #2000 for Yadi….a base knock to center. Who would have ever thought it possible thru his first 5 ML seasons???
September 24, 2020 at 10:13 pm #141716
stlcard25ParticipantYadi with hit #2000. Shame it’s a year with no fans in the stands. But still, congrats to Yadi. That’s quite the accomplishment.

jj-cf-stlParticipantanyone whose cap doesn’t fly off his head should suffice
September 24, 2020 at 10:14 pm #141718Matt Carpenter’s OPS (.627) is basically the same as Ozuna’s SLG (.626). That is insane and even more insane that Shildt keeps putting Carp in the lineup, especially in the 4 hole.

I think he will be a good #2 hitter. Right in front of Nolan Gorman. I’d also accept Gorman as the #4 if they acquire my man Alex Kirilloff. 😉

jj-cf-stlParticipantwell, matheny got canned for benching fowler, i guess shildt must have better survival instincts

ParticipantFowler and Carlson are clean cut “see ball hit ball” guys. The kind of guys you want on your team.
September 24, 2020 at 10:19 pm #141723How is it possible to have a 4-1 lead with your team hitting an abysmal 1-16 with runners in scoring position? We mozzy along to the 8th.
September 24, 2020 at 10:20 pm #141724
stlcard25Participant1-16 with RISP tonight. Yikes.
September 24, 2020 at 10:21 pm #141725Two more left in scoring position in the seventh. 1-for-16 with runners in scoring position.
September 24, 2020 at 10:24 pm #141726This is one whale of a long game. Hope we don’t end up going into extras or I won’t quite get my beauty sleep. What’s with Christian “Mendoza” Yelich……guy can’t hit a lick anymore.
September 24, 2020 at 10:26 pm #141727
jj-cf-stlParticipantYelich and Carp ran out of salsa
September 24, 2020 at 10:31 pm #141728Ha! They sure did, JJ. Reyes looking tough too. My golly what do you do if Reyes puts it all together, with a blossoming Cabrera breaking upon the scene? Hicks, Cabby, Reyes and Gallegos…….you can’t have 4 bonafide closers in baseball……can you?
