I would consider having Dejong bunt in that situation. Just like when I used to play golf and practice short gimme putts when my game was off to see the ball go in the hole…sometimes you’ve gotta see the bat connect with the ball to get some confidence back.

ok rook, just be a hero, that’s all, no pressure

Second inning: Another case of a runner in scoring position with one out and they can’t get the job done. In the first inning, it was Goldy and Carp. This time, Fowler and Carlson.

Man, lot of pressure being put on Burnes early but he’s held up. Would have been nice to at least get one run from that.

our current claim to fame is we’re driving his pitch count up, big deal

you don’t know if kk is throwing a 69mph curve or 91mph fastball. disrupts timing very well.

Another leadoff man on. Has any team ever gotten a leadoff man on every inning of a game and been shut out?

Another grounder gets through. How about a fly ball here, Goldy?

How about that?! Goldy strokes one into CF for a 1 run lead.

Carp gave that one a good poke, and the RF makes a nice play. Edman makes his second base running error of the inning and doesn’t advance.

Edman baserunning mistake. Didn’t tag up to take 3B on a fly ball to the wall in RF for the first out. Molina then fans with two on.

should Edman be on 3rd SoCal?

What a dumb baserunning blunder by Edman!

Wong, Edman, Goldschmidt string together back to back to back singles. 1-0 Redbirds. KK dealing. You’ve got about as good of a chance winning with that formula as you do with a bunch of homer/strikeout guys and poor pitching.

    Go Cards.

He should have scored. He misread Goldy’s single to CF as well.

5 hits and a walk in three innings…1 run. You almost have to purposely sequence them perfectly wrong to manage that futility.

I agree with others. Edman made two errors. He looked like Suppan running the bases from 3rd in game 3 of the 2004 World Series. Very hard to watch.

Could have expected that. Our opponents seem to miss no opportunity to score runs lately.

KK’s pitch county is quietly skyrocketing. The bullpen may get taxed tonight after all despite the very efficient start to the game.
