Maybe under the radar a little, Herrera is up to .310 at Memphis
May 7, 2022 at 12:26 am in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 26 thread – Fri., May 6 at SF Giants #184593I may be asking if Molina can play short next week if DeJong dips below .100
May 7, 2022 at 12:12 am in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 26 thread – Fri., May 6 at SF Giants #184591Carlson and Yepez come up with big hits….Helsley has been lights out this year….good save for Gallegos
Shift accounted for the 2 Giants runs and the last Cardinals run I think
Question for the board on Donovan can he play shortstop?
May 6, 2022 at 7:17 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 26 thread – Fri., May 6 at SF Giants #184546Did a little looking at the Free Agent shortstops from this past Winter and none are exactly tearing it up.
Story and Semien are really struggling
Story hitting .210 and no HR’s, 9 RBI coming into tonight
Semien hitting .179 and no HR’s, 8 RBISeager who would have been my pick for the Cardinals to add but he got ridiculous $ by the Rangers was off to a hot start but has cooled off some is hitting .258 with 4 HR’s, 12 RBI
Baez is .233 with 2 HR’s, 11 RBI
Correa is .255 with 2 HR’s, 11 RBIStory and Semien have moved to second base
Still early
May 5, 2022 at 11:51 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 25 thread – Thurs., May 5 at SF Giants #184489Good win….fun fact Cardinals used 4 pitchers all w/ ERA’s below 2.00 in the game (Mikolas/Pallante/Wittgren /Whitley)
May 5, 2022 at 11:08 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 25 thread – Thurs., May 5 at SF Giants #184482I think Ozzie Smith/David Eckstein/Gary Templeton/Royce Clayton/Jose Oquendo/Edgar Renteria/Rafael Furcal/ Pete Kozma could currently hit better than .121 ….they might need an Icy Hot sponsorship but good grief .121
May 4, 2022 at 1:59 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 24 thread – Wednesday, May 4 at Royals #184359Just looking at shortstops on bad teams the pickings are pretty slim…Newman (good glove) may be a possibility with the Pirates but not sure they would trade him he makes about $2 mill a year…depends I guess what you would give them….maybe a package deal for some prospects if they throw in Bednar
May 4, 2022 at 1:01 pm in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 24 thread – Wednesday, May 4 at Royals #184353I can’t remember to many position players hitting in the 120’s range this many games into the season….the failure to address shortstop in the off season is starting to become an anchor on the offense, especially when the OF is struggling
April 27, 2022 at 11:48 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2021-2023 #183671If I am the Cardinals I’m inquiring about former Cardinal Zac Gallen, and possibly Melancin this weekend in this dbacks set.
March 31, 2022 at 11:27 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2021-2023 #181613will be lucky if they add 1 starter, I assume they are going to wait around till the trade deadline to make a move. They definitely need someone, if nothing else to limit the innings of Wainwright/Hudson/Flaherty and Mikolas.
Are they mad at fans in the outfield bleachers
2.5 million is pretty reasonable for a LH reliever, compared to what they paid Miller and Cecil, would have no problem bringing back Garcia on similar $….his big issue was throwing strikes apparently he went more exclusively to the 2 seam FB this year instead of the 4 seamer…..from what I observed in the postseason the bullpen is about different looks you can give hitters with a different arm slots and power pitchers mixed in.
Ex Marlins president said Yelich has always had back issues…so that could be interesting to watch considering the $$ they have tied to him
I’m ok with this trade, Thomas wasn’t going to do anything as a Cardinal, Lester is worth taking a flyer on
This team is not making a push to anything except staying at .500
Isn’t he like 90 and terrible….good grief
Marcus Semien might be a free agent as well, thought he was
The Cardinals have to get a shortstop that can hit, that has to be a top priority
The 2 Clemson recruits (Taylor and Chandler) not going in the first 29 is a bit of a surprise, also Madden not going in the first 29
Taylor would be the interesting/upside pick
July 7, 2021 at 10:22 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 88 thread – Wed., July 7 at Giants #165995Not sure a Lefthand led pitcher that walks left handed hitters is good
July 7, 2021 at 9:21 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 88 thread – Wed., July 7 at Giants #165989I’m not sure starting Dejong is a good idea his bat is awful and it appears to be affecting his fielding
June 28, 2021 at 6:08 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2021-2023 #165010The question on Buy and Sell is how far are they off for next year (can’t see them making any run this year). While they may look past it this year, the same case could have been made the last 2 years for the Giants and now they are the best team record wise in the league.
They definitely need a shortstop in free agency, they need a starter in free agency, they need another Outfielder who can hit consistently. I would also think they need another relief pitcher or 2 but there track record for free agent relievers is abysmal so I’d rather just go with a younger player(s) their.
They have some $85 million coming off the books, but they will have to pay Arenado next year so they should have some money. I can’t see many people showing up to watch this if they don’t invest in better players.
I really think Cardinals would be better served with a new GM/major league talent evaluator type. The Offense has been bad for the last 4 or 5 years and this taxes the bullpen b/c they are mainly in close games, and they have just wasted money on some terrible relief pitchers who either can’t pitch or are always hurt
June 26, 2021 at 5:00 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2021-2023 #164850This team needs a shortstop that can hit over .200…, hopefully they are targeting one of the 2022 free agents with the Carpenter/fouler money coming off the books
June 13, 2021 at 8:05 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2021-2023 #163908I’m not sure I would want this front office making any desperation trades at this time, the best thing to do I think would be to clean house in the front office and start fresh next year
May 19, 2021 at 11:06 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2021-2023 #161789I can’t see them adding 3 players, I would think Kim would go to the bullpen if they add a Starter. I would also put Polanco from the Pirates on the OF watch list
