RHP Jordan Hicks (1-2, 3.65) vs. RHP Alex Cobb (1-1, 5.40)
BSM // KMOX
Also BSSO and BSSW+May 6, 2022 at 10:50 am #184514Be nice to get this one too but Cobb might be a handful. Curious what the lineup is going to look like tonight as well. I still say it won’t be long before we have Carlson in the #2 slot in the lineup.
Din-din this Friday is a trip out to the other Amish restaurant, Lakeview, that sits on lake north of town. Catfish fiddlers, mashed potatoes, gravy, noodles, green beans dressing, and some vanilla soft serve ice cream for dessert.

May 6, 2022 at 6:02 pm #184536Carlson has me a little concerned. That stat Brian had a week or so ago showing he had not squared up on a single ball yet is surprising. So it’s not like he has had bad luck, he just is not getting the barrel of the bat to the ball – not even a loud foul, at least as of a week or so ago.
Think we may hit a brew pub and food truck for din-din. A gorgeous 80 degrees here this afternoon.

stlcard25ParticipantIn a few years, could we look back at Sosa’s IL stint as the bad luck event that opens the door for our slugging DH to finally break out?? A la the Bonilla injury that let Albert debut 21 years ago. Yepez looks like a professional hitter.
May 6, 2022 at 6:11 pm #184539Like what I see of Yepez in just a few ABs. I thought we got him in a deal for Jaime Garcia, but Dan said last night he came over for Matt Adams. He might be the best player we got from the Braves since a certain 40 year old hurler was dealt when he was still a minor leaguer.
May 6, 2022 at 6:16 pm #184541On a good note……the Reds will NOT lose again tonight. Their game with Pittsburgh at Crosley Field has been rained out. As a result they are still on pace for a 20-142 season.
By the way, a handful of rainouts today.

May 6, 2022 at 6:32 pm #184543I would love to be privy to the thinking behind this lineup. Perhaps it will reveal itself to be full of pleasant surprises. I have a tendency to worry more about Hicks and his control of the hummer. Let’s hope it all combines to thump those Giants firmly. Rah Cardinals!
Friday night and we settled for a simple Spanish omelette (fried potatoes, chopped green pepper, tomatoes) and a salad, with some iced tea. Dessert was strawberries.
May 6, 2022 at 6:49 pm #184545What do catfish fiddlers, Spanish omelettes and Tyler O’Neill have in common on this fine Friday evening? They are all going to be very big hits either at or on the plate tonight. You can see in O’Neill’s swings that he’s busting out of his slump. I see no reason for him not to pop 2-3 dingers this weekend in SF. Do we have any game threaders in our midst for tonight’s affair?
May 6, 2022 at 7:17 pm #184546Did a little looking at the Free Agent shortstops from this past Winter and none are exactly tearing it up.
Story and Semien are really struggling
Story hitting .210 and no HR’s, 9 RBI coming into tonight
Semien hitting .179 and no HR’s, 8 RBISeager who would have been my pick for the Cardinals to add but he got ridiculous $ by the Rangers was off to a hot start but has cooled off some is hitting .258 with 4 HR’s, 12 RBI
Baez is .233 with 2 HR’s, 11 RBI
Correa is .255 with 2 HR’s, 11 RBIStory and Semien have moved to second base
Still early
May 6, 2022 at 7:55 pm #184547Nice post GG. For me, it’s Semien who’s been the biggest disappointment thus far. He was my dream Cardinal acquisition this past off season, even though he’s getting up there in age at 31.
May 6, 2022 at 8:13 pm #184548My dream shortstop for us has Covid right now.
We did end up at a local brew pub, having a beer and various varieties of grilled cheese sandwiches. The food truck is called “Mountain Melted”. Good stuff! I got a pulled pork, BBQ with melted Swiss. Tater tots on the side.
May 6, 2022 at 8:14 pm #184549Are we sure this game is on BSMW? DirecTV shows Blues games and nothing on 671-1. Am I going to be able to view this game? Me and Whitey Herdog will be honked if we miss it. I guess we can always watch Emergency over on FETV.

May 6, 2022 at 8:31 pm #184550Taking a gander at the out-of-town scoreboard……Milwaukee leads Atlanta 6-2 in the last of the 6th at Fulton County Stadium.
And I am on edge here, wondering if I will get to see the game tonight???

May 6, 2022 at 8:47 pm #184551If any of you are out in SF (which I didn’t like overall and wouldn’t go back) AT&T park is probably the best stadium I’ve been to. Everything from the views to the food were top notch. We saw the Mets and Giants on a gorgeous night.
May 6, 2022 at 9:24 pm #184553Top of 1. Alex “Corn On The” Cobb starting for SF.
Edman strikes out swinging.
Goldy hits a comebacker to Cobb and he’ll toss it on over to Flores at 1st for the out.
Arenado taps a slow roller to the left side of the infield where Cobb races over to glove and he’ll make his throw to 1st a successful one and that will do it for the Cards here in the top of the 1st.

May 6, 2022 at 9:31 pm #184555Hicks sets the Giants down 1-2-3 in the 1st, though it took a fair amount of pitches (16) to do so.

ParticipantO’Neil takes a pitch for the first strike that he could have easily got a sacrifice fly on then ends up striking out on pitch off plate.
May 6, 2022 at 10:12 pm #184561Top of 4
Edman grounds it out to Flores at 1st and he’ll underhand feed his pitcher Cobb covering 1st for the out.
Goldy walks on a 3-2 wide one and there goes Cobb’s perfecto. Now let’s take care of the no-hitter next….then Cobb’s shutout…..and finally, let’s saddle Alex Cobb with the loss, shall we?
Arenado lines a shot past Vosler at 3rd and down the line in left…..and Arenado will cruise into 2nd with a standup double with Goldy taking 3rd.
O’Neill strikes out swinging.
Pez strikes out swinging….. Cobb’s 6th K.
