There’s probably some genuine truth to this one. Both the Dodgers and Yankees are trying to win a championship and Edman would certainly be the sort of player that could help them to acheive that goal. For his sake, I wouldn’t mind too much seeing him play in a WS as a Dodger or Yankee.

The Yankees – Nestor Cortes angle was interesting, if there is anything to it. He’s got a gimpy shoulder waiting in the wings but Edman is looking like a potential tea cup.

At least Rosenthal is a more legit source than that MLBTR clickbait.

Well, he wears a bow tie. That counts for a lot.

He’s a Greek shipping magnate who’s also a baseball fan.

If Edman is traded, that pretty much guarantees that Carlson will stay.

BTW, I wasn’t aware or the ‘tea cup’ metaphor, so for those who didn’t think to look it up, here it is.

I disagree mud. I think they are done with Carlson. But I agree they they would then need to fix up the roster.

mud, in the baseball sense, a tea cup, actually china tea cup, just refers to a player who seems too fragile for daily use. That is my meaning at least.

Fedde is exactly who the Cardinals need. I hope this deal goes through.

Edman was 0-5 tonight with 4 Ks.
I wonder what that means and how it affects things.

A bad night should not impact five years of good play.

Also I don’t think Edman has played one inning in the field yet. The Dodgers already have some guy at DH that is supposed to be pretty good so Tommy would need to get healthy soon.

How would the DH slot in the Dodgers batting order apply to Edman?

Siani has 49 PAs in July. So if Edman stays, is he going to get 49 PAs a month? Or will he play more than Siani plays? If so, who plays less so he can play more?

It sounds like the 3 player deal idea came about because the Sox wanted Walker and Mo said no, so he’s maybe trying to come up with some other way to end up with Fedde. It seems like the Cardinals would have to add a substantial piece to that deal, even though Edman will be way easier to sign beyond 2025 than Fedde will.

I’d rather have our versatile teacup who can solve multiple problems.

No offense, but Tommy hasn’t solved any problems around here lately. Even if he could, they aren’t problems that Donovan can’t solve. Especially once we get our roster straightened out.Tommy can play center. Thats it. Plus he cost more.

I should have said Tommy can play center and backup ss and Donovan can’t.

I agree Tommy is a useful player. Which is why he could headline a deal for the kind of pitcher we need. We aren’t going to get anything for spare parts.

As long as they don’t trade both Carlson and Edman, the back up CF is covered one way or the other. That is, when Tommy can finally play in the field again.

Walker for Thorpe (CWS), and we have another 200+ near minimum contracts available in trade to sweeten it up, so no mil plus salaries for Bill to stress over. Poor guy. Good to know the CWS have interest in Walker.

A CF capable 4th OF is not impossible to find if they move both Edman and Carlson. They obviously don’t like playing Carlson.
