RHP Erick Fedde (7-4, 3.11) vs. RHP Javier Assad (5-3, 3.23)

Also BS South and Southwest ExtraAugust 1, 2024 at 9:51 pm #262675After last nights devastating loss I expect this one to be a blowout in favor of the Cubs.
About our only chance is if Fedde throws a perfect game, no-hitter, or 1-hitter.
And there is no CCFF today either.
August 1, 2024 at 10:12 pm #262678Haha…Will a shutout work?
August 2, 2024 at 4:44 am #262687Too bad about no CCFF, but we have bigger fish to fry.
August 2, 2024 at 6:06 am #262697Not a time to joke around, gentlemen. After last night’s debacle and where we’re at in the season, I believe today’s game will decide which direction we’ll be heading for the remainder of the campaign. Lose today and mark my words, our boys will not be seeing any post season play in October. This game is so huge that I have no desire whatsoever to discuss din-dins or Catfish Fridays…….nothing but baseball. I hope Oli will have our troops psychologically prepared to do battle today…..game on!
August 2, 2024 at 6:15 am #262699Well said Pugs. Not only is our season on the line but we don’t need to allow the Cubs any glimmer of hope to crawl out of the basement and charge ahead. Slam the door shut on them while we can. Hopefully the Birds are focused today and the remainder of the weekend.
August 2, 2024 at 6:32 am #262700Im going to take the opposite side of the road here. Hopefully Oli is telling his players to forget about last night and relax and play what really is just another game on a 162 game schedule. All this doom and gloom stuff is for fans.

August 2, 2024 at 10:36 am #262718That one was tough to take – but Helsley has come through most every time so a clunker can be expected now and then. There was that year where Brad Lidge never blew a save, but usually anyone not named Mariano Rivera will cough one up on occasion.
It is very important, maybe vitally important to take at least two of these next three. A series split is acceptable given last night’s debacle. Anything less is not so no more give aways.

CF M. Siani LAugust 2, 2024 at 11:09 am #262722Relaxation is for retirees and wimps. What happened to the Cardinals last night is just the toxic elixir that sends many teams into a tailspin. Oli should not tell them to put it behind them, as that will have the opposite intended effect. There’s only one surefire method of diminishing the sting created from last night’s collapse…..come right back and drill these cubbies the very next day. Luckily last night was not the final game of the series, as then no immediate revenge could be exacted. Quality teams snap right back and take care of business. Much will be revealed about this Cardinal club this afternoon. This game is NOT merely another game of the 162 that will be played this year…..it’s much much bigger than that……and hopefully every person, whether it be the bench coach, batboy, team doctor or 1st baseman, sitting in that Cardinal dugout today, realizes that.
August 2, 2024 at 11:18 am #262723I’m hoping it’s 5-0 Cubs going into the 9th inning today and we win 7-5.
August 2, 2024 at 11:29 am #262725I guess it’s up to Fedde and Pham to pull us out of our mediocrity. This year’s gang spent 110 games kissing our sister. It’s now or never to whomp the Cubs and set us down the road to real winning baseball.
Rah Cardinals!August 2, 2024 at 12:38 pm #262729Odds are both Pham and Fedde won’t both get off to a blazing start with the new team. I wish him well though.
August 2, 2024 at 1:18 pm #262732Looks like Nolan Gorman has lost his job with Pham on board. Ollie is using Donovan as the new second sacker most every day now. All those “swing and a miss” calls from Rooney, Caray and company eventually wore him down in management’s view.
August 2, 2024 at 1:19 pm #262733Sounds like we disagree Pugs. Heres to hoping they relax and spank the hated Cubs today!
August 2, 2024 at 1:35 pm #262736Still trying to understand the logic behind naming a baseball team after the venue in which they play.
August 2, 2024 at 1:38 pm #262737Anyone who saw the home half of the 9th of yesterday’s game is perfectly aware that the ending will undoubtedly help the Cardinals play better in September…”I’ll tell you that!”
August 2, 2024 at 1:41 pm #262738A CS takes the wind out of our 1st inning.
August 2, 2024 at 2:02 pm #262739Is this really the pitcher we were supposed to be excited to get? Thus far has been a long struggle for 4 outs.
51 pitches. 4 earned runs. 4 outs.
August 2, 2024 at 2:03 pm #262740Fedde gives up a 3 run dong to a guy hitting .185.
August 2, 2024 at 2:05 pm #262741Now 5 runs and 5 outs. At least he’s consistent.
August 2, 2024 at 2:08 pm #262742Lucky for us Matz started his rehab assignment.
August 2, 2024 at 2:17 pm #262744Goldy with the sacks jammed
