MrperkinsParticipantSean Armstrong DFA despite pretty decent numbers here. Is Mo going out of his way to show how little he thought of Carlson? Is he hoping someone takes the remainder of his very modest contract? Personally I think that looks really tacky. Maybe he said something wrong in the clubhouse? If it was just to get O’Brien up why not just wait a couple days for roster expansion. Or switch him with Leahy? Weird.
August 27, 2024 at 5:46 pm #265731TD and BicycleMike are on fire! I was actually thinking of Ed Spezio and Joaquin Andujar.
August 27, 2024 at 5:53 pm #265732Haha…I never thought of Andujar! His name’s too hard to spell, so I always think of Walking Underwear…
August 27, 2024 at 6:41 pm #2657341TD gets the oven mitt with Spiezio. When I think of Andujar I always think “Ice Cream Candy Bar.” 🙂
August 27, 2024 at 6:50 pm #265735That’s a good one too! Andujar was always good for laughs and would have been good as a standup routine on the Tonight Show. Molina was funny too, but never tried to be. I’ll never forget when they asked Yadier about the dust-up with Phillips…”He call my team bad names and then he want to be my friend? He not my friend”…Haha!
August 27, 2024 at 7:00 pm #265736Had to wheel the trash and recyle containers out to the curb and it’s still like purgatory out there. I don’t expect it to be too near to capacity tonight.
August 27, 2024 at 7:32 pm #265737Another empty tomb at Busch and the corpse known as Miles is on the bump.
August 27, 2024 at 7:41 pm #265738There’s the reason you want to stick with Scott. He brings the D with more offensive upside.
August 27, 2024 at 7:49 pm #265739Mike Schildt has to be looking at the barren grandstands and thinking to himself, “Serves ’em right to suffer.”
August 27, 2024 at 7:58 pm #265742Shildt has to have mixed feelings about things. He is getting the last laugh managing a very good ball club and taking it to the club that fired him. But he came though the Cardinal system and undoubtedly has a lot of fond memories about his days here – they gave him the opportunity to manage.
Our club sure misses a lot of scoring opportunities. We are a study in frustration.
August 27, 2024 at 8:06 pm #265743Yea Mike, we rarely get that one hit we really need. My boy Scott just got schooled with 3 straight sliders.
August 27, 2024 at 8:15 pm #265744How many times are we going to leave the bases loaded in this one?????
August 27, 2024 at 8:18 pm #265745I’m sure he wishes he was still the Cardinal manager, but I’m almost entirely certain he feels that he was treated in an extremely unfair manner.
August 27, 2024 at 8:27 pm #265746Did not see last night’s game but man, I see what you guys mean by the empty seats. Wow – that is something we have not seen in this park. We had some lean years in Busch II, but this park has enjoyed mostly good times.
Goldy reaches back and puts one over the boards to give us the lead.
August 27, 2024 at 8:37 pm #265747This Merrill kid hits the way I wish Gorman would learn to do. Take that pitch on the outer half and put the bat on it, instead of trying to yank it. Level off the swing.
August 27, 2024 at 8:47 pm #265748Matsui wearing Ozzie’s old number. I think both Ozzie and Templeton wore 1 with the Pads and Cards.
August 27, 2024 at 8:54 pm #265749That was some of the most piss poor baseball I’ve ever seen. Literally didn’t even try to hold the runners before the double steal. This team is so pitifully managed.
August 27, 2024 at 8:58 pm #265750Another masterpiece of crap managing by the boy puppet.
August 27, 2024 at 9:08 pm #265751Yeah, Templeton and Ozzie swapped numbers at the trade.
August 27, 2024 at 9:09 pm #265752And the double steal turns out to be the difference in the score. Schildt’s playing for keeps.
August 27, 2024 at 9:26 pm #265753Another masterpiece of crap managing by the boy puppet.
Unfortunately he’s not the only reason this team is where it is.
You what makes good managers? Good players and this team doesn’t have enough of them.
August 27, 2024 at 9:44 pm #265755Riley O’Brien as late evening reliever tonight when he was at AAA yesterday.
August 27, 2024 at 9:46 pm #265756No, he’s certainly not the only reason for the failure, but I’m entirely convinced the Cardinals will never win anything with him as manager. They could resurrect Musial, Pujols and Gibson and the little whiz-kid would find a way to louse things up.
August 27, 2024 at 9:52 pm #265758Our boy genius manager really messed this one up. Pinch hit for Burleson with Pham who comes up in the 8th with the tying run on second and fans. Then Baker hitting 3rd fans. Why have Baker hitting 3rd. No other manager above little league would have Baker hitting 3rd. Anywhere but third. He didn’t even hit above .250 at Memphis. ou have your best hitter hitting third.
As a final stroke of genius, down one run in the 9th he brings in a player with 4+ major league innings and a career average of over 8 ERA and sure enough we go into the bottom of the 9th down 2 runs.
How can players get excited about playing for a manager who makes such dumb decisions. Meanwhile Shildt has the Padres up 18 games over .500 while we are 2 games under. How can the fans enjoy watching the clown show Mo and Ollie are putting on.
August 27, 2024 at 9:56 pm #265759Unfortunately he’s not the only reason this team is where it is.
You what makes good managers? Good players and this team doesn’t have enough of them.
I don’t disagree in concept, but he isn’t good at all. He simply can’t do the easy moves. He’s in way over his head and it’s very clear on a daily basis.
