RBK, gripe at Marmol, he makes out the lineup, not me. There’s a pretty good chance Marmol prefers Burleson’s competitive ABs to Gorman’s. Hint hint, all the Gorman Ks. And Marmol likely prefers having the leading RBI producer on the team in the lineup. Try not to stress out too much about harmless baseball talk. This isn’t CT.
I’d like to see Burleson pick it up against lefties. But Oli sure seems to like Burly hitting high in the order vs LHP despite the stats. I suggested Burleson batting 6th, for now, vs a lefty starter.
For now, maybe Pham should stay in the lineup even against RHP.

3) Contreras C
4) Arenado 3B
5) Goldschmidt 1B
6) Donovan 2B
7) Pham LF
8) Nootbaar RF
9) Siani CFMcGreevy deserves another start after his performance today. Especially, with Lynn going down with injury.
With Pham, Burly will likely stay in the lineup vs LHP. But maybe bat lower at 6. However, Oli sure seems to like Winn 1 and Burleson 2. Now with Pham’s RHB, it will be an interesting lineup vs the lefty.
Even with Pham’s much needed RH bat against lefties. Despite the stats, I believe Burleson still stays in the lineup against starting LHP, for now. Maybe a little lower in the lineup against a LHP starter. It’s kind of like Joe Buck said, to paraphrase, Burleson is “must see” when he bats.
RBK, those three have kept the Cardinals a float while Goldschmidt, Arenado and Gorman were scuffling. And, I believe Walker can be added to the list. Even though you are a long-time critic of me, why can’t you acknowledge this?
blingboy, there’s some trade value in the five I mentioned. All five need a buyer that sees it and feels they can develop them. Ideally, a buyer that has some high level picthing depth to part with.
If I’m Mo, I’m shopping some combo of Walker, Gorman, Nootbaar, Hererra and Carlson for young, top of the rotation starting pitchers with some level of contract control for at least two seasons beyond this one. Why shouldn’t he? Burleson’s, Siani’s and Pages’ progress has made this scenario possible.

An absolutely horrible managerial decision to pinch run for one of the top hitters in the MLB, who was DH in a one run game late. And Burly was at 1B. Win or lose, a terrible decision !
RBK, so how’d you feel about Burleson the two previous seasons? Were you one of the prevailing doubters? Are were you one of the very few that, not only recognized his immense potential. But, also, wasn’t afraid to post how good he was going to be. When it wasn’t too cool to go there. It was rarefied territory.
blingboy, let’s hope Gorman and Walker develop the current consistent production of Donovan, Winn and Burleson.
RBK, gut feeling. Like I had with Burleson when it seemed around 90% of posters weren’t sure about him not that long ago. Burleson has made some past doubters now marvel at what he’s doing. Sometimes, you have to look beyond so-called current “facts” as the be all, end all.
KCB, that would be nice. I am currently really enjoying the way Donovan, Winn and Burleson have evolved as Cardinals’ hitters. I’m expecting Wetherholt to “follow suit”. The sooner, the better.
CC, Skenes is a glowing example that a high 1st round draft choice can have an immediate impact at the MLB level. Skenes was a #1 pick and Wertherholt was reported to be considered as the #1 pick.
KCB, maybe I trust my instincts more than I should. It worked out pretty good on Burleson. There was a time where I was a staunch supporter when it seemed like about 90% of Cardinals fans were not. Many supporting their negative-Burleson case with so called “facts”.
blingboy, you might be on to what’s behind the Walker/Gorman struggles. I feel one of the reasons Burleson is so successful is his ability to adjust to the various ways many pitchers try to attack him.
KCB, you imply that I feel the SEC=AA. I just reported what I read or heard. Big difference that some lack the perception to realize. They are too eager to criticize.
If Mo can pull off a savvy trade or two. The Cardinals could be a force in the second half of the season. Carlson and Hererra are obvious trade chips. Are Goldschmidt, Gorman, Nootbaar, Walker and Scott, too?
