Also BS Southeast and Southwest ExtraAlright folks, I will be at the ball park for this one. Looks to be a mismatch on the hill, but you never know. Staying at a Drury Inn in St. Charles, MO,and heading out early for Steel Town (at least it used to be that).
Looking forward to seeing Skenes, but it would be nice to see him face the Rockies and not us.
Will be cruising though southern Indiana today – maybe somewhat close to Rats’ neck of the woods. But I won’t be stopping at the Gas Stop, or whatever that place he frequents that seems to include a half dozen or so main and side dishes. 🙂

Agreed. The saving grace for the offense is that while there are only a few standouts over the sample size, there are really no black holes either. When your worst hitters are in the upper 70s for a month and a half, that’s not a huge drag on the offense.
We certainly could stand to have some more guys pick up the pace for the 2nd half. And like you mentioned, getting a few rotation pieces to be above average would really help take some strain off the excellent bullpen.
Paul David Skenes. The most highly touted rookie pitcher since Clyde and Strasburg. He’ll never forget tonight’s game…….because it promises to be his first ML loss. At the risk of coming across braggadocious, I seldom miss on my baseball predictions. Since 2006, I have logged a 74% success rate and on my “bet the ranch” games, an astounding 94% clip. For those of you who have put some coinage down over the years on my selections, you’ve done very very well. Some weeks I may only select just one game and other weeks I might tab 4 games. It all depends. Now tonight’s game is NOT a “bet the ranch” contest, but considering the generous odds you’re getting if you’re betting St. Louis tonight, it can be a very prosperous evening. Look at it this way…..the Cardinals have a 74% chance to gain victory in this particular ballgame.
And what’s for din-din tonight? Din-din this evening resembles a lunch, as I’m opting for an egg salad sandwich, Campbell’s chicken noodles soup, celery spears….some with peanut butter on top and others with Philadelphia cream cheese and 2 Popeye’s apple cinnamon pies.

As of June 20 Pallante’s ERA was well over 5. Since then he has made 4 starts, 3 of them good. Lets not get carried away.

This one is in the Loss column already. Sorry Pugs, but Lynn isn’t going to outpitch Skenes. I suspect the Pirates will get a few runs early and that add on a few more runs here and there. I am going to call this one 7-1 Pirates.
Bernie Sanders has a better chance of winning the White House in November than we do winning this game.

Rats, with baseball you just never know. I agree that it looks grim and the odds are certainly heavily against us, but we’re talking about a sport where the tiniest nuances happen again and again to change the game. In baseball, there’s always a chance. But yeah, we probably will not win.
Sitting here with my son in Boston today and we’re chatting about potentially going whale watching tomorrow. But then we realize we get to whale watch tonight with Lynn on the mound. Thus far it’s been enjoyable. Let’s keep it that way.
Although I never make predictions, especially about the future, it’s my guess that Skenes suffers his first losing decision at the hands the Great White Whale and the Cardinals in tonight’s game. As always, the key will be the number of Bavarian Bismarks that are on hand in the dugout to feed giant beast between innings…
He is going to need to refuel with a lot of Bismarck’s after that inning. That means he needs some time off from the offense. Let’s go hitters.
