Siani, Pages and Burleson. Who would have thunk it going into the season? Winn makes it four. But he is a little less surprising. All in all, those four have really been good developments in an up and down season.

Burleson: 1.2/1.2/1.2 (97)RBK, those three have kept the Cardinals a float while Goldschmidt, Arenado and Gorman were scuffling. And, I believe Walker can be added to the list. Even though you are a long-time critic of me, why can’t you acknowledge this?
Siani is the biggest surprise for me. I never thought he would hit as well as he has. It took him a couple of months to find his groove. But since the start of June his BA is .280… and his OPS looks like it’s up about 100 points. He just recently turned 25 years old, so it’s too early to say whether he has reached his ceiling.
Didn’t Pages just give up 6 SBs in one game? I think Siani and Pages have done a fantastic job being plugs for empty holes. Plugs that came out of nowhere and didn’t cost anything. 70 or 80 OPS+ is weak though. Hopefully we can do something this winter to upgrade. Sucking less next year means upgrading the weak spots even if we like them.
I will play the glass half full role today.
Pages had one bad game defensively. Otherwise he has been stellar.
Siani could very well win the gold glove.

The first four weeks of the season, the Cardinals were playing a CF who had never played above AA most of the time, and Siani was only getting sporadic at bats. Once he started getting regular AB’s, his hitting settled into about where it is at now.
