Brian, I’m aware of what you are saying, for now. But sometimes you have to project ahead. Like I did with Burleson. Oli lights up when asked about Burleson as a hitter. I could see that scenario with Saggese maybe sooner than later.

It wouldn’t surprise me if either Arenado or Goldschmidt or both are not with the Cardinals by next season. Maybe sooner. This could open up moving Gorman to 3B, Saggese to 2B and, possibly, Burleson to 1B. Edman and Donovan could also factor in to such personnel moves. Hopefully, Walker will be able to return as the regular RF. A longer range future with Winn, Gorman, Burleson, Walker, Herrera and Saggese in the lineup is quite appealing.

“The greatest defensive SS Ozzie Smith himself had 20+ errors each of his 1st 3 seasons”. Wow ! That’s amazing. ATM, thanks for posting that.

If Winn keeps struggling at SS. Would they consider Saggese at SS if he could just be as steady as DeJong? No doubt, Winn would be a fabulous CF with that speed and arm. Especially, if Scott continues to have batting issues. Saggese has been playing a lot of SS at Memphis. Saggese hasn’t hit extremely well, yet , at Memphis. But like with Burleson, I believe the Cardinals know he’s going to be a heckuva hitter. This is just for speculative discussion. Critics, try not to overreact. lol

I can’t understand how Burleson doesn’t hit more bombs like the last one. Especially, against RHP. Obviously, the home run potential is there.

    20 year-old Zack Showalter’s line is very impressive. A 16.2 K/9 and 1.35 ERA with 3 saves.

Are both Church and Matthews destined for the MLB? If so, when? Two years, maybe?

BOCfan, It might have been good to sit Burly last night against one of the top lefties in the league. However, Burly hit, probably, the hardest ball of the game against him. Burleson will come out of it, hit-wise. He does need to find a way to deliver more power for the team.

RBK, do you still feel Burleson should be at Memphis? If so, why?

I was listening to some local sports radio personalities yesterday. They really like Burleson as a hitter. Some posters are still in denial. To each there own opinion, I guess.

LACardfan, maybe not. But Burleson has come through, big-time, since Contreras has been out. He’s been a huge part of the Cardinals resurgence. Agree?

LACardFan, why can’t you and other hyper-sensitive posters just ignore my posts then? Problem solved. I’m a huge Burleson fan, so what?

RBK, man, you can’t diss Burly and myself enough, can you? No biggie with me. But Burleson is an integral part of the lineup/team, right now. Whether you acknowledge it or not.

BOCfan, actually, I was just seeking some opinions. You’re right, Burly needs some of those hard hit balls to find holes or the seats.

Who will be #2 and #5 in the lineup for the Cardinals tonight against the outstanding RHP, Nola?

1td, that would be an interesting offer to a team needing some hitting.

1td, the Cardinals may have another really good hitter coming along in Thomas Saggese. The 22 year-old infielder had a home run, triple and double for AAA Memphis last game. Prieto and Fermin have been outstanding, too. The Cardinals appear to have plenty of depth in the infield in the organization.

1td, that’s funny. In reality, Burly has improved his trade value immensely. But I have a feeling the Cardinals are reluctant to part with a talented 25 year-old lefty hitter that’s just coming into his own.

AdM, You are hilarious. And suffer from ABS (anti Burly Syndrome). Burleson is fine. He is a serious offensive threat. Especially, against RHP. You might deny it. But the Cardinals know what an offensive threat he provides. Burleson will be in the lineup against the Phillies outstanding RHPs in the upcoming series.

RBK, situations change. Opinions change. Just like opinions of Burleson have changed with many former critics. Give me a break, man.

RBK, quit being so adversarial. My suggestion was for Arenado to go and work on his swing with less pressure to perform. It was not a demotion. Try being more rational. It was good to see Arenado have a good game. I would have liked to see him follow up on that success.

LaCardFan, that could be. However, a lot of amateur baseball wizards simply couldn’t envision Burleson’s hitting potential. Could you, two years ago until this May?

Gonna be interesting to have Burly at cleanup and Gorman at #5 against the RHP. Actually, after last night, I wish Arenado had the chance to build on that performance.

I remember after the FA signings, I posted that Gibson could be as good Gray for the Cardinals. I got scorched by my critics. Not as bad as the incessant drillings I use to get when touting Burleson. But still they slammed me just the same. Looks like ‘ole Shady might be 2 for 2. lol

I can’t find the trade thread so I’ll post this here. I’ve been seeing some Goldy to Houston for some pitching prospects speculation. Maybe Burly needs to keep that firstbaseman’s mitt oiled up.
