Where would this team be without Mozeliak? He did a fantastic job evaluating the team’s pitching for 2023. Now he is outdoing himself by getting all those prospects that without a doubt will be all steals based on how good they will be. You have to hand it to him the man never makes a wrong move. If things don’t work out is not his fault ever. He’s a keeper.
The Rangers continue to bolster their pitching ranks, as ESPN’s Jeff Passan (Twitter links) reports that Texas and St. Louis have completed a trade to send Jordan Montgomery and Chris Stratton to Arlington. The Cardinals will receive left-hander John King, as well as infield prospect Thomas Saggese and right-handed pitching prospect Tekoah Roby.
I wish we could have the Knizner-Herrera combo going forward. But we are stuck with senor Contreras. Nobody is taking that contract.
I think not wanting to be in St. Louis is part of it but he should pitch well regardless of his feelings. He will be free agent and he is hurting his value.

FlahertyI didn’t like the Contreras signing. I will say upfront I don’t like his personality or demeanor. But the main reason was way too much money and years for a catcher on the wrong side of 30. I wanted the money to go for pitching. Yes he can hit but is not like he is Murphy when it comes to hitting. We are stuck with him. I am biased because I don’t like it but we would be better off without him IMO.
