The trades need to start happening soon. Can’t mess around and get left out trying to squeeze too much out of the deal.

Splitting this series does no good so it’s already a lost cause. Losing 3 of 4 is bad but – does it really matter at this point?

Seeing what pitch count Monty finishes with may give us a clue too as to his future in St. Louis.

Right on, ZTR. The only aspect that factors in though is that you always want to beat your arch rivals. You know, what if winning these last 3 vs the Cards changes Chicago’s way of thinking? Maybe they now stand pat or even add a player? If they weren’t so far back in the WC race they just might.

Looking back to the 9th inning of Friday’s game, oh how the complexion of this entire series changed with those two bad strike calls on Burleson by the home plate ump. It’s not sour grapes, it’s just fact……..one of these poor umps can really sink a team….. especially one that is already deficient in the pitching department like our Birds.

Game on! Bases blossoming with Birds here in the 6th in a 7-1 Chicago ballgame. A long one here by DeJong and we’ll get these chumps.

Ahhh….. Paulie meekly grounds out to SS to extinguish the Redbird threat.

I always thought he was good for 140.

Ha! 140 would definitely give us a clue, Bling.

Anthony O. Kay on in relief for Chicago as we commence this 7th inning. If we can hit them for a 3 spot here then this comeback is doable.

Boy, watching the pretty damsels during the 7th inning stretch at Wrigley just may inspire ole’ Pugs here to head on out to a lively nightclub this evening.

Anthony O. Kay still dealing for the cubbies here in the 8th and Tyler O’Neill gets the ball rolling with a leadoff walk. Let’s stay with the action shall we?

Burleson strikes out swinging…..after Friday the poor guy probably thinks that any 9th inning pitch throw his way will be called a strike…..no matter how high or how low and even how wide……his only hope would be getting hit by a pitch and then if it’s that Friday home plate ump, then even getting hit in the back dead center by a pitch might not go his way.

    Javier Aasad on for Chicago.

Herrera – O’Neill permitted unabated 2nd base entrance compliments of a balk. On 3-2 he strikes out swinging.

Carlson – Laces a base hit to center and O’Neill is rounding 3rd and coming on home…..and the throw is just a titch too late and it’s now a 7-2 ballgame…….Carlson motors into 2nd on the throw.

Motter – Grounds out to end the inning.

“I think these guys are not really in shape because they don’t throw enough. 100 pitches is not a lot. You warm up with 100 pitches. Then you throw your 200. We threw 185 pitches in a game”…Steve Carlton.

Geesh looks like I’m the only one left around here. Looks like it’s Streets of San Francisco time for me.

We will be 11.5 out, the same as the Pirates, pending their game vs the Angels.

Able to watch a bit today. Been reading lots of articles about cardinals making a run. I don’t know where this stuff comes from. I think they do a lot more of a disservice than anything positive. Just winning a few games in a row doesn’t change a lot. Too many problems and the organization needs to start fixing them. Regrettably I haven’t been able to watch much this year or post a lot, but I can see that. Losing 3 out of 4 to the cubs is just another bad thing in a bad season.

Maybe there will be some news after the game. Something, anything.

It’s time for the trades to start. At least it will give us something new to talk about.

It’s time to turn out the lights on the 2023 season and start working on 2024.

Your lights always shine bright in these waters Cardinal In France & ZTR. Nice to see Willie back. It’s not August 1st yet, so we really cannot fold the tent up yet. I’ve had a baseball policy since 1975 in that there is no throwing in the towel before the dog days of summer commence.

Noot came out with heel soreness, day to day. I don’t know what to think about today’s players. Noot has appeared in 70 of 100 games, so he has not appeared in 30% of the games for one reason or another. Now its heel soreness. At least have something torn or broken or dislocated if you want to sit around.

I hope they trade Montgomery to the Orioles.

Could be, Oliver. Baltimore is loaded to the gills with young quality lefty hitters. But I look towards the City of Brotherly Love and some of their young pitching. I see a pitcher like a Griff McGarry coming our way. Should be an interesting week.

*Edit……..weird in that my post was put in quotes instead of Oliver’s. Must be a slight snafu in the system.

**Edit…….it did it again. I think Brian needs to get on this ASAP.

Dangle Yepez and Libby under their noses and we’ll see if that remains true, LACardFan.

Who would want Yepez or Liberatore. Yepez can only hot and then only occasionally and Liberatore is terrible (see his last start). You’ll need to dangle Walker, Winn, Nootbar, Arenado if you want to get anybody decent.
