His overall numbers are ok but the trend by month shows a decline each month. Can he rebound? of course, will he? I don’t know.
Goldy IMO should not be given an extension. There are many candidates for first base a lot younger and a lot cheaper. Granted the defense will not be the same as with Goldy but is that enough to extend him two more years IMO no way. Last September he was not good neither was he during the playoffs. His OPS by month this year.

There is only 1B, currently occupied by Goldy through next year and probably longer since an extension is more than likely even if it is short-sighted.
How many DH’s does a team need? They have decisions to make because you can’t keep all the all bat no glove players.

Goldy last 30 games avg. .256 OBP .338 Slg. .393 not good. But if you only look at his last 7 games is really bad. .160 .250 .280
Arenado is not going anywhere, he has 4 more years on his contract. Goldy is a free agent after next year. No reason to re-sign him but they will.
and he has been paid well for that. But at the end of next season he will be 37. No reason to extend when you have younger cheaper in house options. We don’t need Goldy we need pitching. But no doubt in my mind that is exactly what they will do. 3 more years at least.
Goldy numbers aren’t great so far this year. I hope they don’t resign him. Time to move on after 2024. Arenado has a longer contract so he could be part of a world series winner. Knowing PBO he will do just that a sign Goldy to an extension. Not the end of the world but not a smart move IMO. Until the PBO is fired nothing will significantly change.
I am glad Flaherty is gone. But because is better for him to be away from the intense dislike fans have for him. Hope the best for him.
