Wonder if Wainwright would work well as a closer…as he’s done it very well before…
Well it’s the bottom of the 3rd and Rockies lead 1-0…
Now the FO will say that we almost made the playoffs so why make any major changes…more tinkering and replacing one guy that needs to leave the team with a player that will be in that same boat in a year or two and no power bat, better baserunning, defense…
Hmm…in 1964 my birth was still 15 years away, though late March is a good time to have a birthday…including myself there’s 5 members of my extended family, well now only three of us but that’s only because my Grandma and her twin brother aren’t with us anymore, he died several years ago and she a few…
Signing Shildt may have been their big offseason acquisition…yes I know that it happened during the season and all but…
Score is 4-0 Cards in the top of the 2nd, Ozuna with a solo shot, Carpenter with a 2 run single, and Bader scampered on home thanks to an error by the RF…
September 1, 2018 at 4:38 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2017-2018 #67745Or should we trade for someone in the offseason like Arenado or whatever his name is from Colorado and get him locked up to a long term deal, not 8 years or anything but like 5 or 6 and then move Gorman to 1B in the minors so that he can learn it as he goes…or by the time Gorman gets to the majors just move Arenado or whatever to 1B or something like that…
No problem, I thought at first that it sent me to a different website, much more color and looks a lot better than it used to once you get the hang of it…
Just a quick heads up msn has changed their mlb scores page when you go to an individual game…kind of neat imho…just go to msn then mlb and then the cards game…it’s certainly different than the old way…
Maybe we should try and trade for Arenado in the offseason and then extend his contract, maybe a cheaper version of Machado that’s almost as good…
Does anyone here think that maybe we might trade some of these younger guys after the season, not many of them however with the younger guys playing so much and showing what they can do…not advocating for a trade but…they’re getting a chance to show what they can do in the majors…
Well we still need an impact bat and maybe a guy or two that can lock down a couple of infield positions, right now we’re shuffling the lineup every so often…maybe find another starting pitcher, Reyes is a big unknown and besides that we have only like a few other starters that have pitched terribly much so the need is still there imho, that and figure out the OF logjam with what we do with Ozuna and Fowler…
My fear now is that regardless of how we end the season the fo will view it as that we don’t need to make any real changes to the roster and just the normal tinker, like a middle of the road bat that then never really does anything and some bullpen help that spends most of the year on the dl…
I’d almost be for trading Reyes before the rest of the league realizes that he’s injury prone and/or could never be a starter, I hope that I’m wrong but…
Like I said, Mo and his other FO cronies will run the team into the ground…
Good for him then but not sure if/how that would help us really…sadly…
Then again if he needs surgery and is out all next year we basically got one average year out of him and are down an OF’er for next year and still in need of a power bat, so then Mo failed on two fronts…
And how long before Ozuna is a FA anyway, it can only be like another season or so…
Mt dad died of pancreatic cancer about 5 years ago so I know the feeling Bw, at least to a small degree…
August 4, 2018 at 2:20 pm in reply to: What is wrong with Dexter Fowler and what should be done? #63938Though could his contract almost force us to make him a starter, or maybe O’Neill and Bader are auditioning so that this offseason Mo will trade them for…something…well in his mind…
I think that it’s more about the Cubs about whether they can actually pay all of those players enough to keep them long term, all of those players will likely want big raises with their next contracts…
That sounds about right…like I said they’ll have to hit rock bottom before they admit that they’ve failed…
But then to have Mo and others say that they felt like we were still a playoff team this year…kind of have the fo now talking out of both sides of their mouths…still am scared that Mo and his group will run the team into the ground before they get the axe…
August 1, 2018 at 11:29 am in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2017-2018 #63557THough I’m wary about expecting Bader and O’Neill to be ready to take over, I still think that they need a season or so, and if we can get a big time outfielder or something like that we should…
July 28, 2018 at 5:36 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2017-2018 #62735Saw on msn than the Yankees are trying to trade for Archer from Tampa Bay…
July 26, 2018 at 8:27 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2017-2018 #62304I’m not saying that we should have gone after Hamels, only that the Cubs are at least trying to better their team…
Looks like we might have to face Cole Hamels if the reported trade with the Cubs goes through…
