KeepComingBackParticipantPages rescue Mikolas from another brainless pitch

KeepComingBackParticipantWhat a brainless start.
KeepComingBackParticipantI feel your pain SteveO. But they are “prioritizing his developement as a starter”. Which I think is the right thing to do. They should have just had better relievers for their ml bullpen. But Mo was too busy trading Arenado.
KeepComingBackParticipantWe just have to be happy knowing those guys are there until after the deadline. Until than the expiring contracts are going to play.
KeepComingBackParticipantI forgot about the deadline being a source for pitching next year.
KeepComingBackParticipantWe know Matz, Fedde, and Mikolas are gone next year. Looks like Lib is picking up one of those slots. So Pallante, Gray, Lib, and ? We need to let McGreevy and Graceffo pitch. Or any other healthy arms on the farm. Quinn and Hence injured is disappointing to say the least. We obviously need more than 5 healthy arms. I can’t imagine us being able to fill out the whole rotation internally.
KeepComingBackParticipantJj-Baker isn’t ml player imo.
KeepComingBackParticipantThey should bring Herrera back as FULL TIME dh. Work him daily at his new position so he isn’t learning at the ML level ala Walker. First base makes sense.
KeepComingBackParticipantYea I didn’t really think that one over to carefully. Just frustrated with the dh situation. Burly isn’t the answer. He needs to put 100 points on his obp and 200 on his ops to make him viable.

KeepComingBackParticipantThey’re now already 6 games off the pace in the division and it’s more than 3 weeks until Memorial Day. By then they may be scuffed and skint-up beyond any hope of recovery.
SASubar-thinkaboutit
KeepComingBackParticipantBring up Koperniak and send Burleson out.

KeepComingBackParticipantCIF Agreed. Right now we don’t have a well balanced player at the position. Good news is it appears we have legitimate prospects on the way. Jimmi Crooks being the closest. Bad news is we have an overpaid converted first baseman.

KeepComingBackParticipant. Willson Contreras has not been this teams issue. Lack of talent has been.
I pretty much agree with this. Problem with Contreras isn’t his fault. He wasn’t the guy we should have signed to a big contract. It was another screw the Cubs by signing their fa move by Mo. Think Dexter Fowler. Yadi had retired and Mo got cute. We needed a veteran outfielder and a defense first catcher to go along with Knizner. We had plenty of catching talent in the system. I consider this one of Mo’s biggest failures. They embarrassed themselves further by publicly calling out his defense and game management.
KeepComingBackParticipantJust seemed odd. Hope he’s OK

KeepComingBackParticipantI was off yesterday and my fishing trip was rained out. I don’t mind rain but the streams I fish rose with the overnight rain and become dangerous for wading (which is what I do). Anyway I needed a new phone and it was nice to have a couple good games to watch while I switched the phones over. That is pretty much an all day job.

KeepComingBackParticipantI seldom am. Go Birds! We love you guys no matter what your record is.
Cardinals Baseball is good fun. Can’t wait to put this last era in the rearview and start on a new regime. There were LOTS of good times!
KeepComingBackParticipantWe aren’t going anywhere this year. We have to endure Walker and Gormans struggles at the plate. Hopefully by the end of the year we see enough of an upward trend that they can be counted on for 2026 and moving forward. Burleson is a 1 dimensional player with no apparent power. I wouldn’t give him at bats in front of anyone.

KeepComingBackParticipantKozma wiped a buggar on DD (or vice versa) in that game they caught on camera. They only showed it once. Someone must have told them not to show it anymore.

KeepComingBackParticipantI grew up < 2 miles from the stadium. But the Cardinals were already my team. I adopted them in the years between Charlie Finleys exodus and the expansion Royals. They broadcast the Cardinals on radio. Those are some of my best memories. Our garage was used like another room in the house. We didn’t have air-conditioning. My dad built a screened wooden frame insert and we would raise the garage door, open the back door, and put a big box fan in the doorway to pull a draft thru. My grandma and grandpa lived with us, and every night after dinner, we all sat out there and listened to the Cardinals. It was the grandest of times, and I’ve never let go of them.

KeepComingBackParticipantI lived in Kc at that time Dom. That’s why I saw them. I couldn’t get enough baseball as a kid. I was 14 at the time.
