Mikolas works around the 1 out double. So far he’s looking like he wants to roll this 8’ter from Decatur…

Miles soft stuff is iffy for strikes, but the pop-ups after on the sliders is having results. 23 pitches after 2 IP.

Gore looking like he had no intention of working to Noots.

Final 2 outs of the third on Mikolas curves. 33 pitches after 3 IP.

I like Noot in the leadoff spot. Great on base skills and I prefer getting him extra PAs. Scott if he can really keep up a .360+ OBP is worth considering there. In general, put your best hitters at the top of the lineup for me as that gets them more PA on the year. Winn to me is not an ideal #2, but he has played well since hitting there.

Regarding Judge Carter, I think managers have been conditioned in the modern game to not IBB a hitter as it typically isn’t worth it. For Judge though, I think he crosses that line where if you have a free base when he is up and it is a close game, I would walk him.

I like Noot fine at leadoff. I hate Arenado at cleanup. Hit him where he deserves to be. 6,7,8.

Mikolas offspeed not competitive in the 4th inning. Lowe spits on it, sits slider, HR.
    2-1 StL

Mikolas pulled in the 6th, 1 out, 1 on, at 69 pitches.

Good to see Matz again. He’s probably pitched in May but I can’t remember it. With Lowe on deck, good pull.

Marmol with the very early pull on Mikolas again even with only 69 pitches. I really like the decision though and am glad to see it. The pen should be plenty rested, but I probably let Matz pitch the 7th

Arenado with a double, Herrera a walk, and then Pozo a 0-2 single to give an insurance run. Let’s keep it going Walker

Walker lets us down, but VS II comes through! I really like watching this young man play. CF of the future for the Cards.

Oli started Scott vs the lefty Gore when he could have shielded him from those PA’s by starting Barrero. Then the lefty Chafin enters, and Oli doesn’t PH for Scott. A Scott single adds to a 4-1 lead. Tough assignments for Scott. Oli challenging him.

Victor Scott II is a tough hardnosed player. He didn’t wait for them to developement him. Did all the dirty work to make himself valuable. Even when he isn’t hot at the plate brings a lot to the table.

Arenado with a 2 run shot to left. Trying to do his best today to deserve that #4 spot KCB

I would bring Graceffo in to finish off the last 2 innings. Save Leahy, Maton, Helsey, and more of Matz for Philly as that will be a tough series.

I’m not unhappy he finally had a couple Xtra bade hits. I hope he continues it. But look at ALL the power #’s rbi ops slg rbi and Noot is handily ahead of him. And it’s not like he’s in a slump. That’swho he is now.

I like Noot at #1 over #4 due to PA. He has played 3 more games than Arenado, but has 27 more PA. Contreras should probably be in the #4 spot though.

A 5 run lead and a BB to the lead-off man. That just ain’t right.

Contreras would be better at cleanup. But Nolans still 6 with Herrera 5. The argument for leaving Noot at leadoff, for me, is not messing with the success Scott2 has had out of the 9 hole. Young players can press when put in more prominent lineup positions.

The pitchers the Cards have to face in the month of May are top notch. Gore today, then in Philly we get Sanchez, Luzardo, Nola. KC we get Ragans, Lugo, Wacha most likely. I think then in Detroit we will line up with Skubal and Flaherty.

I agree with the self made aspect of VC. He worked hard over the winter to up his game. He will probably end up making more money in this game than Gorman or Walker.
