I am predicting a pitching debacle Thursday. There are no good options. Nobody in AAA on the 40 man has been getting guys out lately and Mikolos had trouble with A ball guys his last time out.

How does their guy have a 2.18 ERA and be 7-6?

    He should be pissed….

Let’s root for a win tonight. And starting tomorrow, over our next 9 games, we have 7 against the Pirates and 2 against the Tigers. We’re still only 4 1/2 games behind the Padres and 1 1/2 games behind the Reds for the Wild Card. Still very much in the hunt. The Padres have a number of games against the Giants and Dodgers, and we have some games left against the Reds.

Schedule is favorable by comparison. Surprisingly its not over yet but the Cardinals are going to have to reach down and play as well as they did in May.

This is absolutely nutty….as Nooty crushes a tater to right, right on the heels of a O’Neill 3 run bomb to center…..6-4 Good Guys!

That was probably the most exciting moment(s) of the year!

Sure was….and I think that we were the only two Cardinal Nationers(besides Brian) to see it, GAC. Everyone else gave up on our boys.

Yelich won’t be winning any MVPs this year.

Venturing to the 7th after Tommy Edman’s Yelich & Cain aided triple extends the Cardinal lead to 7-4.

Cabby on. Hitters virtually have no chance vs Cabby, as he continues to get better and better with each passing day.

Is Tyler O’Neill poised to become our most dangerous hitter?

At least it wasn’t a sweep. Good win. But gotta start winning series. Against some good teams. Running outta time…

Top 4 in the order 2 hit game. Couple 1 hit guys and zip for the bottom . Couple young veterans need to start hitting the ball again. They’ve been good in the past. Nice win with good relief pitching. Lester ok until the 4th inning but no SO and some walks too. Hes gonna need to get better too. Good game and good to see that steady stream of runs. Go Cardinals!

Hey, I’ve got an idea. Why don’t we select nine pitchers before each game and paint their numbers on little balls, like bingo balls, and put them into a rotating basket. Then each inning reach in and grab a little ball to decide the guy who will pitch that inning. He must pitch the entire inning no matter how well or how badly he does. It’s not far off from what we’re doing now anyway. Just put everything in the hands of blind luck.

We could do something similar with the batting order.

Last night shows what can happen in the playoffs. Let’s get there. Only 3 1/2 behind the Padres now.

That McFarland guy looked pretty good closing the game out in the 9th. Hmmm….

I really like your idea CIF we could call it Baseball Bingo! We could guess at z he results each night and winner with highest picks gets a free beer either at the game or in the mail! Could also be expanded to the lineup. I think you’re really onto something!

I was with you all the way Pugs! Ever since I the new login standards, I’m a little lazy logging in to chat on my phone during games

This year I’ve realized I enjoy watching Cards baseball no matter what. I watched when we didn’t seem to have a chance at the wild card and enjoyed it because I still love the Cards. It might be frustrating to think of ownership mistakes or see us lose, but I’ve taken a step back to realize I enjoy this and it’s a positive experience to watch the game no matter what the standings might say

We would be a lot closer to the front of the pack if our front office could’ve brought in this bunch of over-the-hill pitchers a lot sooner i.e. Happ, Lester, McFarland, Luis Garcia, LeBlanc. These guys, along with the return of Flaherty, have really made a difference. The front office deserves credit for this if it continues.

Wouldn’t it have been even better if the Cardinals had acquired the necessary pitching depth during the prior off-season? Instead, they gambled that standing pat (including re-signing Wainwright) would be enough. It turned out to not be even close. Cost was a likely factor as it was in letting Wong go.

To start this season, the Triple-A rotation had a total of five games of MLB experience – all by Oviedo last year when he was called up from Double-A before being close to being ready.

The most experienced relievers at Memphis to start 2021 were Fernandez plus Roel Ramirez and Jesus Cruz. Again, the latter two only had MLB experience because of COVID and were both taken off the 40-man afterward.

While it is good that the in-season pitching band aids have generally been better with the Cardinals than they were with their prior teams (Jon Lester excepted), I am not passing out kudos for having to seriously scramble.
