DSL Red vs. Rangers2, 10:30 am ETJuly 27, 2021 at 1:19 pm #167902Pretty happy to see Jordan Walker doing as well as he is in Peoria. He could easily get to AA in his age 19 season next year. He might even start there at this rate!
July 27, 2021 at 9:35 pm #168042It’s not often that a team loses when their staff registers 11 K’s and surrenders only 1 walk. Unfortunately, that’s the situation Memphis finds themselves in as they play in the top of the 9th in southern Tennessee. Memphis down 1-0 in quest of their 16th consecutive win. Flaherty spun 2 scoreless frames, whiffing 3 and issuing a free pass. Gorman 0-3 with a walk.
July 28, 2021 at 9:38 am #168055On Tuesday, the #stlcards system went 4-3, including a twin bill sweep in the Florida Complex League. TCN Player of the Day Logan Gragg tossed seven one-run innings in Peoria’s win, backed by Masyn Winn and Jordan Walker. (free) https://t.co/qMcQFWxNzG pic.twitter.com/t1pUFQNgy4

DSL Red at Phillies White, 10:30 am ETJuly 29, 2021 at 12:30 am #168137Baker, Herrera, and Yepez crack 2 homers apiece. Springfield loses in a battle of field goals 18-12, while Memphis walks off an 8-7 win. Peoria wins 6-2 with Winn tripling and homering. Lardner pitched ver5y well.
July 29, 2021 at 7:03 am #168142Yes indeed, Cardinals27. “Pez” may be in St. Louis sooner rather than later. Libby got lit up in Memphis to the tune of 4 long balls. He didn’t walk a batter though. And this Winn kid in Peoria is going to be a dandy. I think his MO (no not “Missouri”, but rather “Modus Operandi”) is going to be making an immediate impact with each and every class jump, proving that this WINNer belongs.
July 29, 2021 at 8:33 am #168147Juan Yepez and Brendan Donovan are quietly and rapidly moving up the ranks in our system. I think both will be in St. Louis by 2023. I am trying to think of comps for each. Yepez may be another Jose Martinez but with a better glove. As for Donovan, maybe Tommy Herr? Considering Tommy has a red jacket that probably isn’t a fair comp. Maybe Skip Schumaker?
July 29, 2021 at 10:58 am #168162Actually a better comp for Yepez might be Allen Craig.

Palm Beach vs. Tampa (2), 3:30 pm ET, Levi Prater/Jose Moreno
FCL Cardinals at FCL Mets, 12:00 am ET, Yordy Richard
DSL Blue vs. Philles Red, 10:30 am ET
DSL Red at Phillies White, 10:30 am ETJuly 29, 2021 at 6:19 pm #168173Gordon Graceffo and Ryan Loutos from the 2021 draft class each pitched an inning today. Each gave up one hit with no walks. Who knows what the future holds for these kids!
July 29, 2021 at 6:52 pm #168177Right on, Mud! A disturbing performance in this game from Levi Owen Prater. Levi goes just 1 2/3 innings weak, slinging 58 pitches, with only 26 of them being strikes. He yields 2 hits, both undeniable round trippers, whiffs 3 , walks 6, the end result being 5 deservingly earned runs and the loss.
July 29, 2021 at 7:46 pm #168182UncleDennyParticipantThe hit off Loutos was of the scratch variety—a bouncing ball that the third baseman should have fielded. I was at the game and impressed by strike throwing Graceffo and Loutos.
July 30, 2021 at 6:18 am #168190Boy, Yepez is really pummeling the ball at Memphis. 12 dingers in 48 games and a .907 OPS. I saw in the article that gscottar linked from VEB that some are high on him as a pure hitter. It would be nice to hit on one of these guys to come up and be DH for a year or two.
July 30, 2021 at 8:13 am #168193On Thursday, the #stlcards system went 2-5. The Cardinal Nation Player of the Day Connor Lunn threw seven innings of one-run ball, but the Peoria bullpen failed in extra innings. (free) https://t.co/CJdHWno5j4 pic.twitter.com/rO41iUOBMI

July 30, 2021 at 8:24 am #168195It should be about time for Zack Thompson to go for his second win.

He might be the next Adolis Garcia.
July 30, 2021 at 8:41 am #168198He might be the next Adolis Garcia.
We are so snake bitten that it’s pretty much what I expect. He’ll probably be traded today for some third rate starter who will put up am ERA of 5, then Yepez debuts in September and hits .350 for the month with 10-15 HRs.
July 30, 2021 at 9:06 am #168204I would not be trading Yepez. He could be our next Allen Craig, at least before Craig got hurt.

That would be significant forward progress, compared to trading him for an A level pitcher who puts up an era of 5 in AAA a couple years from now. Or just giving him away for cash.
