I could have used a good pitching pickleball coach to come yank me off the court after the very first game to take me out of my misery, JJ.

Ha, Pugs needs a low pickle-pitch count. I’ve played only once, with a neighbor about a year ago. Have played a fair amount of tennis over the years, and everything seemed like a changeup to me in pickleball. Maybe that’s common if you’ve played tennis and you’d adjust to that in a hurry, I don’t know.

When I was thinking of Chipper Jones on the MVP question, I was also thinking it might have been one of the Astros stars. Based on that hint, was it Berkman?

I was going to say Chipper Jones on the MVP question, but the latest hint knocks that out.

I haven’t a clue about the low strikeout guy. So, I’ll start the process of elimination by saying it probably wasn’t Dick Allen.

If it wasn’t a foul ball, then Isaac Newton has hoodwinked us all these years.

I would have preferred the 47 double machine over swinging for the fences Matt every day and twice on Sundays.

I’ve wondered the same. Sure seemed like a change in approach. If so, nothing needed improving, let alone fixing. His 11-pitch AB against Kershaw in the 2013 NLCS Game 6 clincher will always be legendary to me. I don’t make it to StL often, but my son and I were there for the game that night. That AB was riveting, one of the most dramatic doubles you’ll ever see given the situation.

Ha, the Cards will be good this season, except when they aren’t. It’ll all add up to something.

Maybe Trout is a more apt comparison? At least the injury profile might line up better. Yeah, that’s it.

Willie could chase down the baseball and squeeze it for the out with the best of them.

Gorman Thomas and the spirit of Kirby Puckett give this a worldly serious tip of the cap.

Speaking of Willie McGee and nicknames, I remember Howard Cosell saying he reminded him of E.T. You know, the Extra-Terrestrial movie star. I think it was during one of the playoff or World Series games in 82.

You guys have provided some good info for Sooner. As ATM alluded, not all VPNs do a a good job sidestepping blackout restrictions. NordVPN is one that I’ve read that consistently does well, although I don’t need or use it. It also rates highly as a VPN for overall use too, and I’m thinking about getting it for my own personal data and identity protection.

Another thing I’ll add is if you fall into one of the discount categories, don’t forget to take it. MLB.tv and other services often give discounts if you’re a senior citizen, veteran, student, educator, etc.

Merry Christmas all. Had ham, spinach and sweet potato casserole. Managed to steer clear of the rolls, mac & cheese and pecan pie. Not sure in which order, but later gonna have decaf coffee and bourbon that my daughter-in-law bottled somewhere in Kentucky.

Yep 1td, it’s a headscratcher that teams aren’t making a harder push for Helsley.

Question: Which current St Louis player will go on to earn the NLCS MVP for different team in the near future. You know there’s going to be one. Mo has got this down to a science.

Well Eddie’s got no chance at WS MVP if Freddie keeps doing that! It’s hilarious or sob-worthy, depending on your perspective.

Dare I say the door to the broom closet may be opening up?

Related to this comment, I was surprised at the stats they showed the last inning. No team in World Series history, after going down 3-0, has forced even a Game 6, let alone coming back to win. There have been 3-0 leads 24 times previous to this year. Sweeps happened in 21 of those and the other three ended in 5 games.

Edman with the final nail in the coffin for Game 3 with a throw to 1B after a 360 spin.

I stepped away for about 40 minutes. When I came back the first thing I saw was the Edman save at second base. Then I saw the replays of Betts’ lunging catch and Stanton getting gunned down at the plate. The Dodgers’ defense is delivering.

I noticed the Edman read too, 1td. He’s so dialed in on those little things — things that aren’t really little.

Edited to add: I noticed “dialed” is hyphenated above in my post. I didn’t do that. Weird that the board logic would hyphenate that word rather than drop the whole word to the next line. I bet there’s a writing style guide somewhere that would recommend against that.

Umps making a mess of balls and strikes is the norm. It’s what they do, they’re human. It can’t be easy, you got to give them that. Regardless of what you think about using technology, I think it’s 100% certain it would be more consistent than humans. That would be worth a lot to me.

Thanks, Euro. If he can’t answer the bell on Monday, Eddie’s going to have to dial it up another notch…Haha!

Evidently Edman will do whatever the Dodgers need. I thought the Fox Sports panel (Burkhardt, ARod, Jeter, & Big Papi) with Freeman after the game was interesting.

Freeman went on a good bit about how much Edman means to them and praised their front office for pulling off the trade to get him. Freeman said so many of the same things as some of us on this site who have valued Edman highly. He summed it up by saying “that’s a “baseball player, a gritty baseball player.” He said things like Edman does so many things well, he helps you win in a variety of ways, he plays so many positions, he’s a gold glover at 2B and hasn’t even played there yet for us yet, haha.

Too bad Mo didn’t value Edman higher. Analytics don’t capture everything. Hopefully you have some smart baseball minds around to compensate for those shortcomings.
