I’ve had the volume muted. Anyone heard anything about the Ohtani injury?
Rosenthal asked Yamamoto that question, who said via the interpreter something along the lines “not sure about details but I hope he’ll be fine.”
So not much to go on yet.
Not exactly a smooth interview between Rosenthal, interpreter, and Yamamoto.
Edman squeezes the final out. Yankees in a hole.
Is Edman trying to shame Mo into leaving a year early? The opening day boos last year might pale in comparison to what he will hear on opening day 2025.
Dodgers flashing some warning track power in the 1st.
I’m wondering if Flaherty may take a turn in either of the first two games at Dodger Stadium.
A few hours after your post, the Dodgers pegged Flaherty as their Game 1 starter.
1TD, unlike a few years ago I think MLB now schedules the World Series in advance regardless of when the NLCS and ALCS wrap up.
There was a chance for an earlier WS start. Had both LCSes completed in 5 games or fewer, then the World Series would’ve started Tuesday October 22.
She’s about 20 months old now. I always kind of thought I’d prefer a grandson, but she sure did prove me wrong…Haha!
Good stuff, 1td.
Hey 1td, I recall you changed your profile picture to your grandchild when she was born a couple years ago. Do I remember correctly that she was your first? I kind of remember that because our first grandchild was born about the same time.
Have you had another? Our 2nd is supposed to report for duty in about 6 weeks.
As much as I’ve never been a fan of the big market bully franchises, this has potential to be a good World Series. There are a few players I like and a couple I don’t care for — both sides. I can’t lose that way, can I? There will have to be something positive about the ultimate outcome.
Tommy Edman as NLCS MVP was an easy call. I called it over a month ago in a post somewhere on here, haha! Good to see for Edman, he was fun to watch as a Cardinal. I hate he’s gone. His overall contributions in so many different areas probably aren’t appreciated enough by most.
And can it be denied (?), Mo’s magic is real.
Guardians’ bullpen sure hasn’t been good at guarding the end of games when it has mattered. They need a different name.
Clase is now 0-2 with an ERA of 10.29 in 7 IP’ed during the ’24 post-season
La Kabra! Maybe Clase needs to use his GOAT glove again. It’s still a good descriptor for him, although he’s a evidently a different kind of goat in October than he was in July. Self-aggrandizing gone bad. Move over Pedro, the Yankees are Clase’s daddy, haha.
It was looking to me like the Mets were on the verge of an epic meltdown with their pitching and defense in the 6th. Even the possible game-saving DP started with a bobble. Glad they’re all even now. I want everything to go 7 games from here on.
The Royals made it really easy for Luke Weaver in the 9th. Lack of batter discipline at the plate — the modern way.
1td, and let’s not forget the other spaceman, known as The Bird.
It doesn’t roll off the tongue very well as a nickname, but The Left Arm of God is a pretty high and mighty moniker among the mere mortals of the league, haha.
Nice Pugs, on the Mudcat reference. The 60s and 70s were great times, with pitchers named Mudcat, Whitey, Blue Moon, Catfish, Goose, etc.
Sweeney looked like a rookie for sure, that moment was a bit too big for him. He seemed to be the only person in the stadium who didn’t realize Clase wasn’t going to throw him a strike until he was forced too.
KC escapes the 5th inning mess okay, now down 2-0. Bases were loaded with one out, then Soto and Judge could plate just one of the runners.
I just saw where Freeman is a scratch for tonight.
Did somebody say Costas loves him some Yankees and Judge? In the 4th inning, Costas went from euphoria to disappointment in a flash during Judge’s AB, starting with the crack of the bat and ending with the ball dying at the warning track. Yanks did end up getting a run later in the inning to lead 1-0.
Nola maybe losing steam in the 6th, score 2-0 Mets. Mets with two on, no outs and Alonso up, Mets looking to put a hurting on the Phils.
The Dodgers have their hands full with the Padres and might very well get bounced in the division series again. They have won just 2 of the their last 9 playoff games, all at the division series level.
And the stare-down Ragans gave Soto after striking him out was worth the price of admission!
I missed that. It’s worth going back to look at it, so I will. I remember Soto with the posturing a few years back against Mikolas in the playoffs.
And is just me or is Costas completely in for the Yankees?
No. At a minimum, it’s you and me. And I see where 1td opted in too.
Funny 1td, I didn’t put in my post above but I thought about the pine tar incident too.
