I hope Cijntjes injury isn’t bad. It appeared to be a hamstring injury nits too bad, since it was his best outing of the the year.
Pereira was twice a top 100 prospect. He does fit the bill as a right handed center field candidate. Much better than playing Fermin out of position. I wonder if he’ll play center against lefties? It’s also better to play Baez in left, although he could man center.
I’m curious what ROTY stat is valued more, WAR, Batting average, homers, rbis, or defense. What is the history of these stats in regards to the recent awards winners?
Henderson is pitching for Memphis today. Clarke pitched last night for Peoria. So they both are back from their rehab assignments.
I wonder why Bissette wasn’t drafted. He has power, and plays right field. He might be a good addition.
The magic number for Baez may be coming soon. The Cards have played 115 games, so there are 47 left. Baez may be called up in the next week or so. Or I guess they might want Baez for Memphis’ playoffs.
It’s not a good sign to me that Henderson last pitched July 28th, Robberse on July 10th. Neither has been put on the IR though. Robberse’s rehab stint is just about up.
It’s funny how a reputation precedes a player like Jordan. I think he he had like 2 errors in 60-70 games at third last year. He passes my eye test. He reminds me of Dejong in that he has limited range, but if catches it the batter is out.
There are a bunch of draftees with Palm Beach. Also players promoted to Peoria. Weingartner, and Smith among others.
Pereira is an unusual claim. Looks like a former prospect. He’s still young, but he has no options. How much playing time will he get?
I must be in the minority, but I wouldn’t mind seeing Bernal called up and Crooks sent down. Is Crooks that well liked as a receiver? And Crooks has a horrible strikeout rate. Bernal does not. Plus I think you might as well give Bernal MLB experience now because he may not get any next year.
I also would add Rincon. Rincon has pitched very well lately. We have very little in the cupboard as far as relievers go. Rincon can walk as minor league free agent after this year.
At this point I see Henderson, Jesus Baez, and Cho as most likely to be added. Lin as been inconsistent, otherwise he might be on this list too.
Another thing to take into consideration is that JJ has up to 112 games where there he lead off. He, unlike Stewart whose first at bat could have multiple base runners on dimishes rbi chances. And I for one am not in love with sabremetrics, however I think base running and defense should matter.
Is there any chance a combo of players the Phillies might be interested in where we could land Painter? May and Romero, possibly Nootbaar?
Great to see Franklin and Doyle’s last starts. 17 Ks and ZERO walks. Peete has had a strong year for such a young player, he’s just got to stay healthy. Can’t wait to see these Peoria kids and others progress.
Clemente is someone Brian mentioned a few springs ago. He has a live arm apparently. He has 19 Ks in his last 9 2/3 innings.
Franklin pitched great last night. Peete hit for the cyccle. Jesus Baez is pounding the baseball. Gurevitch has set sail to be a top,prospect.
I don’t want Arozarena. I bet the FO doesn’t either. Baez should not be in Memphis in 2027, if there is a MLB season. Don’t forget about Cho, as he would likely be at AAA next year, with a 2028 STL eta. Before the season I wasn’t high on Cho, but he has had a big season.
Forsch, I’m not necessarily against keeping May, because I think his stuff is worth $20 mill, but his results are not. The possibilities are 1) He accepts the QO 2) he declines the offer and signs for $50 mill plus, (the best outcome for us), or 3) he declines the offer and signs for under $50 mill. The latter is the worst for us, as I’d love to get a post first round draft pick. For if Wetherholt wins rookie of the year we get another post first round pick. That nets us 3 picks out of the first 35 picks possibly. And they may still get competitive balance selections if that is in the new contract.
