Is there a trade where we could get Castillo and Sloan for a deal involving Herrera. I know this may not work for the Mariners as they would want more, as we would have to some cash to offset the Castillo $$$. My thought is if you get a rebound from Castillo, and a future ace in Sloan. Another factor is the Cards won’t want to take on salary.

I wouldn’t trade Burleson. Maybe if we were bowled over by an offer. In fact, I’d like to extend him.

Pallante has 2 more years of control, and makes 4 million, which will likely increase greatly next year. I am just afraid he will revert back to his 2025 form. Right now he is trade able. And one of our prospects, Mathews and/or Dobbinscan easily replace him. Plus our future starting prospects like Fitts, Roby, Molina will add depth next year. I’m not even including Mautz, who seems to be moved to the bullpen this year.

Sooner, i don’t think any of those 4 will be traded this season. I see us trading players with limited control years. Now, if Seattle would include Anderson, or Sloan we might have a framework for a deal.

If I was to trade Herrera, I’d prefer to get Sloan. We need an ace type young pitcher. Hancock improved this year, but I don’t think he is an ace type pitcher. If that is too high a price for Seattle , then we just keep,Herrera.

Does Liberatore get demoted or move to the bullpen?

The bullpen is a major problem. Even with Romero struggling this year, it really hurts to have Bruihl as the primary lefty. He has been better than expected, but I’m not sure what he’ll bring the rest of the season.

Good riddance to these retirees. Get some young blood in there.

Another trade candidate could be Pallante. Certainly he has exceeded expectations, and is likely to have his maximum trade value. He could be replaced by Mathews, who appears to be ready. This would be an upgrade.

I wonder how Memphis’ bullpen will fare now that Gastelum was added. He was one of few relievers in the in the system having a great year. There are very few other relief prospects that could help this year. I have mentioned Rincon, but he has been spotty. The others are, Driessen and Worley are years away from the bigs, if they ever get there. I liked Love also, but he has struggled at Memphis. I see trading for relief help as a valid option also.

I was just thinking of others who could be traded that haven’t been talked about much. Pages and Fermin might fetch a pitching prospect. We have Bernal and Mendoza who could them. There are teams looking for right handed bats. Mendoza would have to be added to the 40 man roster. And what is Gormans future with the Cards? He has little trade value right now. I think you hold onto him for this year and hope coaches can fix his swing.

I don’t remember our farm system having so many players with large homer totals. You start with the struggling Josh Baez who has 29 taters. Jesus Baez has 22, Gurevitch with 19, Cho has 10 plus homers in his short time at Springfield. Richardson has muscled up this year also.

I think Hernandez was overshadowed by Dos Santos. He has 9 homers now. Also, Hunter and Strop have i proved. I noticed young hurlers Beltran and Rodriguez for our DSL team had a nice line today of 6 innings combined, 3 hits, 0 runs, 2 walks and 11 Ks. Beltran is 17, and a terrible era, but also has 27 strikeouts in 17 plus innings. His 17 walks are way too many, but if he Can have more outings like today he might be a prospect to watch.

I was hoping Baez would be ready to man left by the deadline. But he may not be called up until September now. If Nootbaar is traded, Velazquez and Torres can play left.

The last week or so has shown our weaknesses. We need to sell those pieces others value. That is if you get something good in return. If May gets traded, Mathews or Dobbins can replace him. I’m not sure Romero will return in time though.

It would seem likely that Horn would get slot or under. Maybe he and his agent are being underwhelmed by the Cards offer. I was also surprised that Schaefer, a graduate student, would get slot value.

I didn’t know Horn wasn’t signed. Does he have much leverage? His last 2 years went from ecvellent results to terrible.

I heard Randall signed also, so that is all 21 singable players.

Did I hear that Maniscal o wants $5 million for a signing bonus? What happens if he doesn’t sign? Will they get another draft pick next year?

I hope promoting Davis will help him. I guess that would make an outfield of Baez, Scott, and Davis most days.

I hear Blewitt is opting out of his contract. I wonder who would replace him. With Burns out, there doesn’t see m much to choose from. Watson maybe, as he had very good numbers until this year.

I think we should hang on to O’Brien unless we get bowled over by an offer. Plus, we don’t have many choices in the minors. I guess you could use Mautz in relief, perhaps a Matz type role, long relief. Hansen and Rincon could be choices, but Hansen hasn’t been very effective against lefties. Rincon has pitched well and could help. But those would require roster moves. I’d like to see us pick up a good lefty reliever. I have never cared for Bruihl, but he has pitched well lately.

I think it would take a big offer to trade O’Brien. I would trade the all star closer for a top 100 prospect, and a AAA reliever, preferably left handed. I doubt anyone would do that though. Maybe Nootbaar for a teams top 15 prospect. Romero and May should fetch a prominent prospect close to the majors. But I wouldn’t want to trade them all. Baez and Mathews would have to be deemed MLB ready.
