This is a good matchup of young pitchers who are rookie of the year candidates. Buehler has been pretty good for the Dodgers at 24, but Jack has been better for the Cards at 22. Hopefully we can get the sweep and move on to Colorado on a high note.

I’ve been wondering if Flaherty is going to give up his no. 32 for Big City or if Adams will have to get a new number. We will see tonight.

So much for that trap series comment! Great win last night and a solid matchup going tonight. Flaherty has been on fire in August.

Any word on Carlos Martinez after being drilled in the chest by a line drive last night? The way he was jerking around out there made me think the ball might have hit him in the heart and he was having convulsions or something. That was actually a pretty scary moment.

I think I read somewhere where Adams was going to wear number 15.

    OK, thanks, gscott.

Rats, the X-rays on Martinez’ chest were clean. He was back and talked with reporters after the game, so unless it flared up overnight, it is not expected to be an issue.

Ozuna? Sheesh. Did something aggravate it last night? He looked fine hitting that homer.

Munoz in Lf instead of O’Neill.

Mayers and Ross on 2 days rest.

Both lefties have low pitch counts, light usage.

Only Norris has pitched the last 2 games. 10 pitches last night.

Looks like he is keeping his number from when he was with the Nats.

Many many good things to speak of here in the Shildt era. However, this team still has not mastered one aspect of the game that all championship teams possess…..the art of being efficient at kicking your opponent when he’s down. During regular season play, you cannot solely settle for winning a series. When you have won the first 2 or 3 games of a series, and have a demoralized opponent at your mercy, you have to be adept at going the distance and completing the sweep. Let’s change that trend starting tonight and beat these guys…and beat them good!

Beuhler looks like he copied verlanders motion. Especially the left leg/foot stride.

Munoz tried to do a little to much there. Could just be one out with Carpenter but it’s 2 outs.

Carp has K’d 3 times tonight. Has an MVP ever had a golden sombrero in the same season he’s won the award?

BTW I think there’s about a 10% chance he wins it.

A few thoughts about the game tonight.

    1) It could be said about a lot of players, butBuehler could have picked instead of Nick Plummer. THe Dodgers picked him with the next pick.

    2) Both pitchers tonight could be great for the next 10-15 years.
