Interesting situation. The players aren’t performing for Oli. Do they also have a distaste for Mo? Would it be better to replace Oli with Stubby, or replace Mo with Bloom and let him bring in his own manager?
I’ve never said this before in all the decades that I’ve been a Cardinal fan, but I truly think this organization needs a shakeup. But where do you start? For Mo to move on? For Oli to be replaced? For Gary LaRocque to retire? Maybe Chaim Bloom is the first step forward.
How is the poor offensive performance possible with Goldschmidt, Arenado, Contreras, Gorman, Nootbaar, Winn, Donovan, and even the departed Walker in the lineup? It doesn’t make sense that most of them are having subpar years all at the same time.
The Cardinals right now rank 28th out of 30 MLB teams in runs scored. Seriously, how is that possible?
Mathews has gone from using fast balls to set up his secondary pitches to using secondary pitches to set up his fast balls.
In the videos Brian has included in his minor league highlights, has anyone noticed that the stadiums are almost empty? Is it a general loss of interest in baseball, or just that the kids aren’t out of school yet?
The main problem with Cards has nothing to do with Walker or Scott. It has to do with Goldy and Arenado needing to lead the offensive charge.
Mathews is a 23 year old who stayed at Stanford for all 4 years. He could accelerate through the system if he keeps up what he’s doing. He’s 2 levels below Roby and Hence right now, but he could be closing up that gap this season.
We have 3 starters under contract for 2025 – Gray, Mikolas, and Matz. Lynn and Gibson have team options. How do you phase Robberse, Roby, Hence, and perhaps Mathews in over the next several years?

You heard him say at WWU that they needed to look closely at how they assess talent at the minor league level. They also need to assess how they’re developing and working with talent at both the major and minor league levels. Mo has taken a beating over Gallen, Alcantara, Arozarena, Garcia, Hicks, O’Neill, Oviedo, etc. And rightly so. Maybe Gary L. needs to retire. And his replacement has just arrived.
I disagree that we don’t have any good pitchers in the pipeline. Sem Robberse at Memphis is 3-0 with a
1.59 ERA and 0.926 WHIP. Soon to be promoted Tink Hence is 2-0 at Springfield with a 1.17 ERA and 0.587 WHIP. Ian Bedell at Springfield is 1-0 with a 2.00 ERA and 1.000 WHIP.
Roby, Rom, Kloffenstein, Graceffo and McGreevy all have mid to bottom of the rotation potential.
