Wow, 4 Palm Beach starters are off to great starts. I can see 1 or 2 perhaps moving up to Peoria. Mathews might move first because of his college exp. Of course his control needs improvement.

I can see 1 or 2 perhaps moving up to Peoria.

There are already 5-7 guys either in the Peoria rotation or stretched out.
Mautz, Hjerpe, Paniagua, Hansen, Rincon, Pereira and Winquest.

They are all doing OK except Hansen, and I don’t think he is going to drop back. Other than an injury situation, it seems it will have to wait for somebody to move up, and I believe there are 6 still starting at Springfield, Hence, Roby, Rajcic, Nunez, Bedell, Cornwell. To clear a spot there, something would have to happen in Memphis. McGreevy, Graceffo, Robberse and Kloffenstein are not going anywhere and I do not think Santos is either, at least any time soon. He was know to be coming off injury and is doing about as would be expected in that circumstance. He just went 6+ IP his last time out.

So the bottom line is that all the new guys have things jammed up until the org makes some decisions.

Curious to see Hence pitch today, as he has been dominant in 3 starts.

Good summary, bling. Don’t forget about Pallante being stuffed into the Memphis rotation. And when Rom is back, that will make seven in Triple-A.

This could be an impressive first five in the Memphis lineup.
    1) Scott II
    2) Saggese
    3) Prieto
    4) Baker
    5) Walker

It would look even better with Burly mingled in with that bunch, Shady.

I could see Burly hitting 2nd in Memphis.

PugsleyAddams, now that you mentioned it. This first six in the lineup might produce as much offense as the Cardinals are, right now. And I’m not being facetious.
    1) Scott II
    2) Prieto
    3) Burleson
    4) Baker
    5) Saggese
    6) Walker

To be clear @Shady you believe that the proposed lineup above would “produce” as much offense as the current MLB Cards lineup against MLB pitching (or minor league pitching) over what period of time?

    No, you’re just being ludicrous.

BoCfan, yes. They’d be as good as what the big club currently has going against MLB pitching. At least for now. Are you really that enamored by what you are seeing right now from the Cardinals? Get real. I don’t care what anybody says, Prieto, Saggese and Burleson would take as competitve ABs as most of the Cardinals against MLB pitching, right now. By the way, Burleson has one of the higher BA’s on the Cardinals, right now.

Your statement is completely without merit.

No way to defend that lineup outperforming the MLB lineup against MLB pitching.

I think 83 pitches to get through 3.1 IP counts as a hiccup.

I agree Bling about the hiccup. Plus, watching him pitch on Gameday, if it’s accurate, his command was below subpar.

I didn’t realize Pallente is to be used as a starter at Memphis.

The ESPN box score had it 49 strikes and 34 balls. Just a lot of pitches.

So Pallante is being sent to Memphis to be a starter. Does the same apply to Thompson? If so that is only going to further clog the pitching pipeline. Not that that is a bad thing but it could stifle promotions for guys further down in the system.

I wonder if they won’t piggyback done starters at AAA. At least
the new pitchers just sent down, and anyone struggling. Otherwise long relief could work for now.

I posted the tweet below on another thread yesterday. So far, Memphis shows its regular starters through the weekend, but that could change.

    Graceffo tonight
    Robberse Friday
    Santos Saturday
    McGreevy Sunday

It’s a quandary because there aren’t any standouts. Guys who have previously failed to dominate in AAA and slow movers who ran off the runway without making the 40 man where they were. Might as well pick 5 names out of a hat and go with that.
