ParticipantI do know the following catcher assignments from best source possible. Herrera will be at Peoria, Ortega and J Rodriguez will be at PB. From appearance J Martínez and Godoy at Springfield (Chinea also still there assume as option in case of injury)
UncleDenny
ParticipantMachado suffered what appears to be serious injury running to first base. Looked like pulled hamstring as they had to help him off the field.
UncleDenny
ParticipantMontero broke camp with Memphis per excellent source (a players mom).
UncleDenny
ParticipantThey have outfielders backed up like Carlson, Pinder, Hurst, Capel. Then Williams and Arozarena will be back. We need Sosa more than another outfielder. Then don’t forget Robinson could end up there when Gyorko is ready. Ravelo can also play corner outfield.
UncleDenny
ParticipantSchrock has less upside in my book. The other 3 can play short. Sosa and Urias have some pop and Edman looks ready.

ParticipantSpeaking of minor leaguers, Nick Plummer and Bryce Denton hit back to back homers yesterday. You’ll see a much more aggressive Plummer this spring. Good to see!
UncleDenny
ParticipantIrritating that Cardinals had plenty of chances to add a good second lefty. Avilan, Cedeno, Jennings, Sipp were all available at low cost.
UncleDenny
ParticipantDon’t put too much emphasis on those stats. Sanchez hit hard liner into wind gust for homer. Denton hit an absolute blast against wind caught at fence and lined a shot back at pitcher (thankful got his glove up) and also a hard shot to an infielder so nothing to show for it. Kirtley homered today. Delvin Perez still looks overmatched.

ParticipantEllis, Greene, Thompson, Carter gone
UncleDenny
ParticipantEllis was lost in Rule 5 draft and Greene was lost via waivers. Carter and Thompson were released.

ParticipantHave noticed prospect Evan Mendoza has been playing first base when used this spring. Obviously that adds to his versatility especially important because of so many third base prospects such as Montero, Gorman and Nuñez.
UncleDenny
ParticipantMozeliak has never been about building good relationships with players. It will come back to bite him come time players become free agents.
UncleDenny
ParticipantRicky Horton pretty complimentary regarding Urias. He knows a thing or two about baseball talent. I’ll have a chance to see for myself in about a week.
UncleDenny
ParticipantIf he can go deeper in the game he seems the perfect choice.
UncleDenny
ParticipantI look for Drake to be released. Springfield should have Carlson, Pinder, Mieses, Billings. Hurst also possibly there if injury occurs.
UncleDenny
ParticipantI enjoy Ricky Horton. It’s McLaughlin and his MemPIS pronounciation I hate.
UncleDenny
ParticipantFor the love of God will someone inform Dan McLaughlin that it’s MEM fus and not MEM pis. Really irritating!
UncleDenny
ParticipantWhat a lot of B.S. See what spring training brings.
UncleDenny
Participant“Ascanio hasn’t got much ink so it’s hard to think of him as up and coming prospect “ is what mud wrote. That’s to be fair about it.
UncleDenny
ParticipantAscanio is an excellent fielder but mud is right that he can hardly be considered a prospect as he doesn’t hit, is going to be a free agent at the end of the year and will be 23 in March.
UncleDenny
ParticipantUnless he has disastrous spring training Munoz is a sure thing
UncleDenny
ParticipantI saw Munoz make some of the most spectacular plays all spring training while playing third and short. For some odd reason they never used him at second. He’ll be fine. Terrific arm and good hands.
UncleDenny
ParticipantI think Miller is huge risk.
UncleDenny
ParticipantIf Cecil, Gregorson and Shreve are in the bullpen the Cardinals are going nowhere.
UncleDenny
ParticipantLH reliever Jose Alvarado and/ or other relievers is who they should be targeting as main player.
