ParticipantOh well, I still have a feeling they are going to lose him in the long run. Probably for nothing. It’s one reason they are a losing organization.
August 1, 2022 at 1:40 pm #193338It’s getting down to crunch time boys.
Everybody ready?
I wish I could let everybody know what I already know but I’ve been told to keep things quiet.
Stay tuned……

August 1, 2022 at 2:27 pm #193341The #STLCards are one of @MLB’s most active teams, with a little more than 24 hours until the deadline. They’re well-positioned to land an impact starter and remain in the mix for Juan Soto. @MLBNetwork

August 1, 2022 at 2:29 pm #193343Jbrodie7, Walker has not played another position other than 3B. However, it is believed that he could be a good right fielder or first baseman. The smart thing for the team in his development is to continue to play him at the hardest position until it is proven that he is not needed there. Until Arenado does not out out this year, he is not blocked at 3B.
August 1, 2022 at 2:53 pm #193347I’ve been thinking all along that there was no way that Juan Soto was heading our way……but now I’m not so sure. It certainly has the feel that a big St. Louis transaction is in the works, but it very well could be for a significant player who is not presently on anyone’s radar. Let’s hope we’re in for a nice surprise come tomorrow around 3:30pm(cst).
August 1, 2022 at 3:18 pm #193352Pugsley I sure would welcome that and may be more happy about that!
August 1, 2022 at 3:32 pm #193356Me too, JohnBrodie. The thought of either Walker or Winn…..or God forbid both, leaving, greatly troubles me. I can’t wait until tomorrow……kind of like a little kid waiting anxiously to open Christmas presents.
August 1, 2022 at 3:37 pm #193357I see the Cards making an offer, but not enough for the Nats.
August 1, 2022 at 3:38 pm #193360Montas to the Yankees. I can’t say I’m disappointed. Think we may have dodged an issue with him. A’s pitchers always make me nervous from an injury point.
August 1, 2022 at 3:41 pm #193361Yea that definitely doesnt upset me any
August 1, 2022 at 3:44 pm #193363Dodgers remain in on Juan Soto. Have big prospect stockpile: Miller, Vargas, Cartaya, Busch, Pepiot, etc,, recent history of big deadline deals and rapport with Nats (Scherzer/Turner last year). Padres and Cards have been considered favorites but no reason to count out LA.

August 1, 2022 at 3:56 pm #193366I feel the big one coming. Before the day/night is through. Tomorrow just filling in around the edges.
August 1, 2022 at 4:09 pm #193369As of now Soto is in the lineup for Washington’s game tonight.
August 1, 2022 at 4:18 pm #193371I wouldn’t mind them picking up a bat, of course. However, the greatest need is for a solid set up reliever.
August 1, 2022 at 4:23 pm #193373I whipped up a potential Padres trade package for Juan Soto. @juanctoribio did the same for the Dodgers and @JohnDenton555 did so for the Cardinals. Some really good players are going to be moved if Soto is. (Tbf, duh, it’s Juan Soto.) https://t.co/60I9vpxzzg

August 1, 2022 at 4:24 pm #193375The starting pitching needs help a lot of help other than Mikolas and he is not an ace this rotation can’t compare to Mets, Braves, Dodgers, Padres…even the Brewers. This pitching staff is not good.
August 1, 2022 at 4:27 pm #193378I agree Oliver. Unfortunately Soto mania seems to be ruling the day.
August 1, 2022 at 5:20 pm #193387Walker has not played another position other than 3B.
The smart thing for the team in his development is to continue to play him at the hardest position until it is proven that he is not needed there.
I don’t know how he “looks” at 3rd, but he has committed 18 errors and has a .905 fielding % this year.
At AAA, they probably need to transition him to the outfield.
August 1, 2022 at 6:42 pm #193394Does Walker have a right field arm or a left field arm? Or a DH arm?
August 1, 2022 at 6:49 pm #193397
stlcard25ParticipantWalker is noted to have a strong arm.
Also, it’s a little premature to say he can’t be a good defender with certainty. Many players commit a lot of errors in the minors and then become good defenders later.
August 1, 2022 at 6:54 pm #193398I think Walker follows Pujols’ track and ends up being a first baseman – the heir apparent to Goldschmidt.
Hoping we do not bring in Soto as I think it might make the Ozuna trade look like a minor mistake in comparison. Get a decent pitcher or two without mortgaging the future, although maybe that is not possible.

Love this kid. I agree 1B or RF a la Dave Winfield. He has some of Dave in him in my book.

jj-cf-stlParticipantArenado had 23 errors at AA.

Yep, and he will be manning 3B in St. Louis for a few more years to come thank goodness.
