Royals get the timely hit, we have Dejong swing at a pitch 2 foot above the strike zone and then Miller hit a dribbler.
Goldschmidt is hitting .302 just think what those numbers would be if he had ANYONE worth a damn batting behind him. One player at .300 or above, why the Royals are winning the State this year.
3-0 was going to be iffy coming back with this lineup, 6-0 is near impossible. Dear front office, this batting line up is pathetic.

This offense is making the dead ball era look exciting. Way to many automatic outs.
Maybe we need to ask if they could make the ball a bit bigger so Cardinal hitters can make more contact :).
I wonder if someone like Tyler O’Neill or Alex Reyes or Andrew Knizer could fetch a highly rated prospect from another organization.
Looking at this roster and I am not sure I see much outside the arms and Goldy all whom I am guessing are off the market that the Cards could dangle. O’Neill and Reyes neither one have established themselves as every day big leaguers. Fowler maybe, but no one will want to pick up that salary for a short term run.
I was hopeful the front office would provide at least a league average offense.
This team will finish near .500 with this lineup because of pitching, back into the playoffs and the front office will pat themselves on the and do the same old nothing this coming off season because the team made the playoffs. Wash, rinse repeat.
Do we need to talk anymore about this offense?
What offense? This team is good at one thing when batting and that is striking out. So offensively challenged.
Agree with Brian in the long run, Tommy getting at bats in the minors was far more of a benefit than coming up and sitting until it was clear the older guys were not going to produce. Guessing there was the thought we paid the older guys on the bench a bunch of money and we will give them a chance to prove that signing them was worth it. Especially all those top notch free agents they sign every year and claim they have made major moves. Here is hoping his manager is quick to start rotating if the veterans struggle again this year.
His batting average and production in the playoffs was disappointing, however, this team was all or nothing for most of the year and the NATS rotation was good enough to get a lot of nothing from the offense.
I will eat crow if he proves me wrong, but given Carpenters hitting the last couple years, since he started worrying about launch angle, I suspect we will need a bat at some point this year. I will also say I really hope I eat crow on this, but he just hasn’t been the old Carp the last couple years.
Anyone that thinks baseball is boring and yet thinks there is anything even remotely exciting about soccer gets disqualified from the start.

Why I am not opposed to the netting, another step should be to make fans get off their damn cell phones and pay attention to what is happening around them, if they are sitting close to home plate.

Why don’t they deserve to be here? They won their division, granted while balanced maybe not the strongest of division. They beat Atlanta 3-2 coming back from 2-1 and winning in Atlanta twice. So yeah, they deserved to be here. Just ran into one of those series where the other team is better.
