Looks like we are going to “extra innings” in the 8th. The Cards get a slight advantage in that it sounds like Fowler will be their man on 2nd, while the Pirates get their 1st baseman, Will Craig.
personally i hate this rule. Its one of those rules that come from younger leagues like pony where kids have school and parents have work so it somewhat makes sense there though i didnt like it then but it doesnt belong in major leagues in my opinion.
Well, barring a second straight miracle, the Cards will lose to the AAA Pirates. This team cannot…I repeat, cannot lose to teams this bad this way.
Nice end game comeback again! They have a chance. Young players like Carlson battling out hits. Miller does not really have a two strike swing. Rodriguez cool as other side of pillow. arg.

Miller the goat. Now Tyler O’Neill is being pinch hit for. Shows how little Shildt thinks of him. I’d rather have the guy who can pop one over the fence than the slappy singles hitter.
we looked like the weaker team this first game. just horrible. Miller gets two balls down the middle and he cant even get a piece.

While we all know our offense is challenged, what is really killing us right now is our defense. This team was supposed to win with pitching and defense. Three errors in a shortened game? Not going to work.
Do we need to talk anymore about this offense?
What offense? This team is good at one thing when batting and that is striking out. So offensively challenged.

I suppose so but O’Neill was supposed to be an everyday player this year. Schrock? Not so much.

I’m sure that’s why. I do recall that in his monster 2018, O’Neill was better against righties than lefties. Not sure if that’s any different now.
Last chance to bat, runner on third, and Shildt sends none other than rookie infielder, Max Schrock, up to hit while Paul DeJong (who has been hot with the bat lately) sits on the bench. I don’t get it.
Is Shildt trying to win games, or what? This was another dumb move by the manager that might have made the difference in the game.
