Edman comes through, potentially saving the Cards’ game. Goldy hit one well but it’s run down by noted PED cheat Ryan Braun. Looks like it will be up to Helsley to try to save it.
The guy who should have been banned from baseball, Ryan Braun, ties the game. This one is in a precarious position. Ugh.
Gut punch. Likely going to be a sweep tonight. The bullpen just isn’t good enough to get it done with all the injuries.
Another disappointing loss. Kim tosses seven scoreless innings and the offense is unable to scratch out a run in seven innings. The club has now dropped four out of their last six and their lead over the Brewers and the Reds is shrinking. Need to turn things around quickly.
I’ve praised Bull’s moves all year long, but I’m going to criticize him for pulling KK after the 7th. He was only at 87 pitches, and he mowed them down in the 7th on only 6 pitches.
I understand he’s coming off the IL, on blood thinners, etc. But, to me, it’s hard to argue you took him out due to his pitch count when he could’ve had to throw another 15 pitches in the 7th. Are you telling me that you were going to pull him in the 7th if he’d had to throw more than 6 pitches? I don’t think so.
Bull overthought that one. And it hurt.
Now we get Ponce. Yikes.
Oh well. Go Cards.
vs Burnes I wouldn’t expect “punchless” to change
The Cards have had a habit over the years of making Mr Nobody look like Greg Maddux before knocking the ace around for 5 runs. So I guess you never know. The odds aren’t in their favor, on paper.
And even if the lineup can score 5, what’s to say it’s a win with all the bullpen injuries now. The pen now has a 4 inning scored upon streak.
Punchless offense. Feel sorry for KK.
This offense is making the dead ball era look exciting. Way to many automatic outs.

The club continues to lose the close ones. You definitely wonder if there was a thought to give Kim the 7th, especially with a tired bullpen and lots of games coming up.
